I'm in a book crisis. Ever since The Election From Hell, I've been too tense & distraught to read. And I long to loose myself in a book! My current fab read AMERICANAH is taking me back to Obama's campaign & election. That's upsetting & painful to remember. Then I picked up THE ASSISTANTS & it's about a powerful white media mogul - gah. So I've pulled out the big guns - a book my Grandma gave me - by Pilcher. I'm embarrassed but it feels right 😳

vivastory @CoffeeAndABook There's always escapist literature. Everyone I know picked up a fun read in order to recuperate from election. I read a Grady Hendrix book to escape. 7y

CoffeeAndABook @readingonarainyday Oh man - isn't it fortunate that Pilcher wrote that many novels?! 😉But you're right - even if escapism doesn't solve all the problems, it's SO good to find relief of the tension & stress. readingonarainyday @CoffeeAndABook I haven't read anything by Pilcher so I'll be keeping her in mind when I'm in need of something escapist. I usually do funny memoirs or light women's fiction when I'm down so I'm glad to add to that list! 7y
