Sepulchre | Kate Mosse
From the New York Times bestselling author of Labyrinth-"a rich brew of supernaturalism and intrigue."(Kirkus Reviews) In 1891, young Lonie Vernier and her brother arrive at the home of their widowed aunt in Rennes-le-Bains, in southwest France. But nothing is as Lonie had imagined. Their aunt is young, willowy, and beautiful, and the estate is a subject of local superstition. Villagers claim that Lonie's late uncle died after summoning a demon from the old Visigoth sepulchre on its grounds... More than a century later, Meredith Martin, an American graduate student, arrives in Rennes-le- Bains while researching the life of Claude Debussy. Haunted by a Tarot reading she had in Paris-and possessing the mysterious deck of cards-she checks into a grand old hotel built on the site of a famous mountain estate destroyed by fire in 1896. There, the pack of Tarot cards and a piece of 19th-century music known as Sepulchre 1891 hold the key to her fate-just as they did to the fate of Lonie Vernier.

#12Booksof2023 August

A book that I bought when it first came out ages ago, and wondered why I waited so long to read because it was amazing

The tension in here had me turning the pages like crazy

About a family and about falling in love with the wrong person

Andrew65 Love this trilogy. 10mo

You know when you start a new book and by the time you‘re finished with the first page, you‘re completely lost in it? This book is that for me. I just had to read on and read on to know what would happen next, and some of these pages were probably read too fast because of that. I didn‘t come up for air until the last page some 670+ pages later

I bought this back in 2008. Why did I wait so long to read it? It‘ll not be this long til my next Mosse

Bklover That book is beautiful! 1y

Forgot to do this before! Oops! A great book but seemed to be lacking in tension during the action parts. I did enjoy it, but I didn't love it.

After an incredible #Thumper meet up on Saturday I feel like I need to get back to the #HRPGBingo for sure. I just need some recommendations for it. Check out the hyper rpg book club on Goodreads to give your suggestions. And yes, that's me, the one in the wheelchair that is trying to not laugh.
For now, I'm continuing some #ItsSoLateItsEarly reading

It's getting spoopy! I love it!
I'd love to say that this is for the #HRPGBingo but it's not. I still need to work out what I'm doing for it this month.

For in truth, this story begins not with bones in a Parisian graveyard but with a deck of cards. The Devil's Picture Book.

The Languedoc trilogy is a deeply satisfying literary adventure, brimming with all the romance, treachery and cliffhangers you would expect from the genre. It is also steeped in a passion for the French region of Carcassonne, its history and legends, and that magical and mysterious dark plane where the two meet.
