Juggling: A Novel | Barbara Trapido
6 posts
Sparky Christina and her saintly adopted sister Pam couldn't be more different. Raised in New York, they are sent to boarding school in England where they meet the similarly mismatched friends Jago and Peter. The four embark on a dazzling series of pairings and partings, outrageous coincidences, and eleventh-hour entrances. Their camaraderie is interrupted one disastrous Halloween when schoolboy revelry turns horribly wrong. Three years on, as Christina analyzes the wit, cruelty, and crossed genders of Shakespearean comedy, the cast of her own life reunites and the curtain falls on some gloriously unexpected partnerships. "Why did it take me so long to discover the singular joys of Barbara Trapido's novels? Why, for so many years, had I missed these witty, soulful, heartbreaking, expansive, brilliant tales? I have become a literary evangelist on her behalf. On account of my badgering, all my friends now love her, too. I won't rest until everyone in America has read (and fallen in love with) this fabulous author." --Elizabeth Gilbert

One of the guests on my most recent podcast is a juggler for a living! Every once in a while I go back to his YouTube video where he juggles in 100 countries. Pretty awesome! https://youtu.be/qitWBzqPPeg

I need to track down this French novel...just for the cover if nothing else. That sprawled women...me if I tried to juggle. I can barely walk and chew gum at the same time! 😜 #emojimadness @Tiffy_Reads @JoeStalksBeck

I have way too many current reads going right now: fourteen, if I count my Bible, Devotional, and recovery materials! And I‘m about to embark on a 15th for the November #LitsyBuddyRead, and 16th for the #whodunitbymailthesequel. I‘ve got to wrap up a few of these! Does anyone else have this problem? I really do want to #ReadAllTheBooks.

CocoReads 🙋guilty and I wouldn‘t have it any other way. 6y
Bookladylinda I‘m guilty of this, I have had up to 6 going! 🤦🏾‍♀️ I‘m working on getting them all read. 6y
CatLass007 @CocoReads I know, I know, but it‘s getting out of hand. 6y

CatLass007 And today I‘m not going to be reading any of them because I‘m going to spend the day reading Joe Hill‘s Locke and Key series because they‘re due back at the library next week and because of Halloween! At least I‘ve already read the first one. One down five to go. 6y
CocoReads I totally understand. Mine easily gets out of hand as well! 6y
Redwritinghood All the time. I‘m trying to get better at organizing and planning ahead on buddy reads. 6y
CouronneDhiver Sometimes I get out of control but I try to only have 4 or 5 on the to at a time... 6y
DocBrown It‘s tough when you‘re working through 8 or 10 all at once, it feels like you‘ll never finish any of them. But when you do finally finish 2 or 4 of them in the same day — what a great feeling! 6y
