This is not the tagged book, but it‘s about the same character.

What a delight. This was just what I needed now.

In the early 90s Ambjørnsen created the character of Elling. A man who doesn‘t quite fit in and who is very peculiar about his ways. Through several books we have followed him.

In this book he starts a blog and we get to read his blog entries. The entire book is his view on certain topics like potatoes in the Norwegian dinner,

AnneCecilie different kinds of butter, comments on news from the papers. And he does has his way of seeing the world. (edited) 3y
MySharonaK I watched the beautiful Norwegian film, wasn‘t aware there was a book! 3y
AnneCecilie @MySharonaK It‘s a book series and the film was based on the second book. It‘s 6 books and and an additional 2 books with Elling‘s reflections. 3y

MySharonaK @AnneCecilie thank you! It‘s so good to know, I‘ll have a look for them in the library now. Is the order you read them important? 3y
AnneCecilie @MySharonaK I‘m not sure what to tell you, I read them in the order they were written. It‘s literary fiction and Ambjørnsen never intended to write a series so he has written as he has had something to tell and they each tell a different story of Elling‘s life. But he does get older, and there are some references to Kjell Bjarne in the later books 3y
MySharonaK @AnneCecilie thank you for your answers! 🌷 I only found a translation of Blood Brothers (and even that not to English) so I‘ll try to get ahold of that one x 3y
AnneCecilie @MySharonaK I think that‘s the third book, if they have translated the title word by word. 3y

This is described as a bonus book in the series about Elling. Elling is a man that doesn‘t quite fit in into society and has been hospitalized for this in previous books.

So when he in this book starts reading “Lanzarote” by Michel Houellebecq, we‘re in for a treat as we get to follow him along on this journey and read his thoughts.
