Recommend This!: Delivering Digital Experiences that People Want to Share | Jason Thibeault, Kirby Wadsworth
49 posts | 1 to read
A detailed look at relationships and how to harness their power for business growth This book teaches marketers how to build successful relationships with early-stage buyers by creating trust and a sense of friendship. The first step is learning to understand buyer activity to gauge what they wantor might wantwhen they first visit an online site. Then marketers must use strategies to capture the buyers attention and build the relationship carefully, rather than aggressively trying to close a sale. Authors Jason Thibeault and Kirby Wadsworth have proven themselves as innovative thought leaders, researchers, and trustworthy guides in improving revenue streams. Their book aims to show organizations the value of relationships in a digital age and a clear method for quantifying that value. It includes specific techniques, like storytelling and personalized content, which have been proven to improve conversions and engage customers. The barriers to finding and engaging with consumers have been destroyed by the ease of clicking a mouse button or tapping on a screen. Todays technology enables competitors to emerge seemingly overnight, and the wide range of choices consumers have today means that businesses can no longer compete solely on product. Recommend This! helps organizations take advantage of the one aspect of business that hasnt changedrelationships. It teaches marketers the strategies they need to be successful in a digital world where forming, cultivating, and taking advantage of relationships can be difficult. Recommend This! teaches organizations how to measure and manage relationships while offering specific strategies to create revolutionary change. It is a must read for anyone who needs to understand how digital relationships alter the way we do business.

I‘m thinking I‘d like to give audiobooks a try this year, and I could use some good nonfiction recommendations. 😬

#lookingforrecommendations

vlwelser I like funny ones read by the author like Yes Please by Amy Poehler but Unbroken read by the dad from Gilmore Girls was also stunning. 3y
Bookwormjillk On Writing by Stephen King, Assassination Vacation by Sarah Vowel, and A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson are some of my favorites 3y
Amandajoy Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer (though I did speed it up to 1.25 or 1.5), Troublemaker by Leah Remini, Education of Idealist by Samantha Power, In the Country We Love by Diane Guerrero, Maybe You Should Talk to Someone by Lori Gottlieb. I really like nonfiction on audio. 3y
See All 50 Comments
Scochrane26 I like audio nonfiction. I read Immortal Life Of Henrietta Lacks, The Radium Girls, & a lot of celeb memoirs on audio. Love Retta‘s book, Busy Philipps, Mindy Kaling. 3y
BarbaraBB You should definitely ask the NF audio queens @Cinfhen and @Megabooks 👸👸 3y
Megabooks Thanks for the tag @BarbaraBB ! I‘m a bit exhausted today, but I can make suggestions if you narrow down a bit what kind of nonfiction you like. Memoirs? Narrative? Pop sci? Social sciences? I listen to it all! 3y
Cinfhen Same!!! Im not exhausted but I like SO MUCH NF!!!! If u give me some NF you recently liked or loved in the past I‘ll be happy to come up with suggestions 💕 3y
shadowspeak17 @vlwelser @Bookwormjillk @Amandajoy @Scochrane26 Thank you all for the suggestions! I‘ll check them out 😃 3y
shadowspeak17 @Megabooks @Cinfhen Thanks! 😊 I don‘t read a lot of nonfiction, so I haven‘t read very widely in any of these categories, but I am really interested in social sciences. I‘ve also enjoyed some true crime and memoirs.

Evicted, Dear Ijeawele, Tears We Cannot Stop, In the Dream House, Killers of the Flower Moon, and Born a Crime are some I‘ve really liked.
3y
Megabooks Oral history - also this is a super awesome multi-cast recording!! (edited) 3y
Megabooks Okay I‘ll stop!! Anyway, if you ever want more recs, historically my split is 50/50 fiction/nonfiction, so I always have recs! 3y
Megabooks @Cinfhen did I cover some of it?? 😉😉 3y
Megabooks Oh and a few of us audiophiles just read this one thanks to Cindy 3y
Megabooks Also this is my current listen. Antiracism. Good so far!! (I switched to the audiobook.) (edited) 3y
Megabooks Also @Hooked_on_books and @britt_brooke are great people to follow for frequent audiobook recs (in addition to @Cinfhen and me 😉😉) 3y
Cinfhen Wow @Megabooks how did you rattle that off so quickly!!!! I‘ve listened to 12/15 of your suggestions and I would 💯 agree with many of them!!! (edited) 3y
Cinfhen Here are a few off the top of my head... social justice 3y
Cinfhen Celebrity memoirs 3y
Cinfhen I‘m blanking on True Crime 🤷🏼‍♀️ 3y
Cinfhen I‘d try your library services and borrow as many as you can...this way if you don‘t like the content or narration it didn‘t cost you anything but a little bit of time. Also I always listen to at least the first chapter before I decide if the book is a good fit. Sometimes I need a few minutes to adjust to the narrator. Good luck and let us know what you decided on...THERE ARE LOADS of GREAT RECOMMENDATIONS here!!!! 3y
Megabooks @Cinfhen I always feel like I miss some favs, but I try to mention the ones that made an IMPRESSION when I make recommendations. I‘m adding the Syria one. I don‘t have one for that country yet, and I don‘t think I stacked it when you originally posted. 3y
Cinfhen I don‘t know why that audiobook really touched me @Megabooks i hope you enjoy it too xx 3y
britt_brooke @Megabooks Thanks, friend! 🎧💚 3y
shadowspeak17 @Megabooks @Cinfhen Wow, thank you guys so much! These recommendations sound great! 😄 Now I‘ve just got to figure out which one to read first. 🤔☺️ 3y
Cinfhen Keep us posted on your quest!!!! 3y

Hey Litsy. I‘ve recently received some devastating news regarding my family and since I unfortunately am too far away from them to do anything meaningful I need some book recommendations to get lost and forget about all the things I can‘t do because of distance. Really appreciate it, just need some positivity and good vibes.

Erinreadsthebooks 🙏🙏🙏 Hope things get better for you! 4y
BarbaraTheBibliophage I‘m so sorry for the difficulty. 💙 If I was in your shoes, a great new series that is fun and not too heavy would be the way to go. Here‘s one that fits that bill for me. 4y
ljuliel Sorry to hear your family is having difficulties. How about 4y

BookmarkTavern I‘d recommend Becky Chambers‘s Wayarers series. It‘s really heart warming and engaging. 4y
Crazeedi Sending a big hug and my thoughts, you must be feeling so helpless. I hope you can lose yourself in these great recommendations! 4y
TheBookStacker @Erinreadsthebooks thanks I‘m hoping so as well! @BarbaraTheBibliophage thank you so much even better that it‘s a Las Vegas series since I currently live in Las Vegas! @ljuliel ah I‘ve been meaning to check that out thank you. @chaoticgoodhufflepuff yas this is on my list I will move it up top! @Crazeedi thanks I appreciate the hug I needed it! Hoping to just disappear into a book for a day or two. 4y
BookmarkTavern If you like audiobooks, I highly recommend the whole series that way. All the narrators have very soothing voices! I hope these can help, even if only a little. ❤️ 4y
Tanisha_A Hugs and comfort! ❤️ 4y
eanderson Sending good thoughts! 4y
BarbaraTheBibliophage Oh good bookish synchronicity! ♥️ 4y
BookNAround I‘m sorry you‘ve gotten bad news and I hope books can provide some comfort and distraction. My go to recommendation for lighter books lately has been M. C. Beaton‘s Poor Relation series. The first book is 4y

This time of year is the worst for my anxiety. I sort of realized I may not be helping myself with my heavy book choices. So...what are some of your favorite happier/lighter reads? I want to have a list to get me through the year. Thanks! 💕

Sharpeipup Anything by Janet Evanovich she has me laughing out loud 4y
GypsyKat I always reread the Harry Potter series when I‘m depressed/anxious. Anne of Green Gables is also a favorite feel good read. 4y
Sace There is something about Nancy Drew. Not fabulous writing, but I find Nancy soothing. Georgette Heyer is wonderful too. 4y
See All 14 Comments
MicheleinPhilly I just read this and it COMPLETELY lifted my mood 4y
xicanti I highly recommend 4y
GypsyKat I thought of another one! If you like graphic novels at all, Giant Days is really cute! 4y
CareBear @GypsyKat I LOVE Giant Days! I‘m on vol 5 I think so that‘s a great idea, thank you ❤️ 4y
CareBear Thanks so much, @Sharpeipup @Sace @LiteraryinLititz @MicheleinPhilly @rather_be_reading @xicanti a lot of great ideas, none of which were even on my radar! 4y
CareBear @MicheleinPhilly this one looks particularly good! 4y
MicheleinPhilly It was! I have been in such a funk (and also suffer with anxiety) and it was such a mood booster. 4y
ljuliel Maeve Binchy and Rosamunde Pilcher books. Both very good authors that divert your attention and help you to focus on THEIR world instead of your own. They sorta take you away for awhile. 4y
SomedayAlmost Gay Yellen‘s “Body Next Door” for some fun, well-written, smart romantic suspense that keeps you guessing and entertains. Also, rich world-building is a respite. I‘ve always loved the Narnia series. (edited) 4y

I‘m looking for recommendations please! I found out recently - as an almost 38 year old adult - that I have ADHD. (I feel this explains my distracted squirrel moments in life.) Does anyone have any good book recommendations on the subject? My therapist recommended one on mindfulness that I plan on reading, but I was hoping to find some others as well. Thank you!

jenniferw88 Anne Hegerty is on the Aspergers spectrum! If you have twitter I recommend you follow her as she occasionally recommends books to help - she does a lot to raise awareness as she was diagnosed later in life too! #AddictedtoTheChase 5y
alexa_d The classic is "You Mean I'm Not Lazy, Stupid, or Crazy?" which is, rather atypically of ADHD books, written by two women who actually HAVE it. Most ADHD books by women are for parents of ADHD children. It's so refreshing and more helpful to have a book from "our" perspective ? 5y
Amandajoy @alexa_d I will add that one to my list, thank you! 5y

*Agatha Christie Fans:

I‘m a newbie to her work.
Can you recommend any particular order to follow when I dig in? Standalones, Poirot, Miss Marple, etc.?

Thanks for your recommendations! 💕

*I‘ve read Crooked House and own (but haven‘t read yet) Murder on the Orient Express.

AsYouWish I have only read And Then There Were None, and I really liked that one. 5y
robinb @AsYouWish Thanks! I also saw on-line where someone else recommended that one to newbies. 😊👍 5y
Laughterhp It depends on what type of detective you want to follow. I personally like Poirot. I really like The ABC Murders but that‘s later in his life when he‘s retired. I also really liked Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile. I really liked And Then There Were None, that‘s probably one of my favorites, but it doesn‘t follow a detective. 5y
See All 27 Comments
Laughterhp And I definitely don‘t think you have to read any series in order. At least I don‘t! 5y
Librarybelle My favorite is And Then There We‘re None...it‘s a stand-alone, and it‘s so good! Definitely thriller aspects. Murder on the Orient Express is a classic good one as well. 5y
Rachbb3 It's safe to say all her novels are good. Of course some better than others. This site has them all in order, that's how I read them. You can download the pdf. https://www.agathachristie.com/stories If you want to start with some truly great ones: And Then There Were None, The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, The A.B.C. Murders, Murder on the Orient Express. 5y
robinb @Laughterhp thanks so much! I know everyone has their own personal tastes...someone on-line said they found Poirot annoying. 🤣 Unfortunately I tend to be a stickler (usually) about reading a series in order (at least by character). So I may just take a character (like Poirot) and read those in order. However, I might start with the standalones first and go from there... 5y
robinb @Librarybelle thanks Jess! Since And Then There Were None is a stand-alone, it might be one of my first to read! I know I‘m going to enjoy them all! 5y
mrsmarch Murder on the Orient Express, And Then There Were None, Sad Cypress, Mystery of the Blue Train, They Came to Baghdad (a stand-alone)...Frankly whatever you pick up, stick with it. I‘m always a bit bored at the beginning but then I‘m engrossed and can‘t put it down. 5y
robinb @Rachbb3 That website is wonderful, thank you! Thinking of starting with standalones, then picking a character and reading in order. 5y
robinb @mrsmarch thank you! Great advice, will do! 😊👍 And I know what you mean about starting slower but finishing totally absorbed! 5y
mrsmarch @robinb I happen to prefer Poirot to Marple. The one that I didn‘t like at all was Death in the Clouds. 5y
robinb @mrsmarch 👍😊 5y
Jaimelire Hercule Poirot is the best, but Miss Marple has her charms too. I loved “And Then There were None”. Seriously, they are all good! 5y
mabell As you can tell, everyone has their favorites, and they can differ greatly! I HATE (is that too strong? 😆) And Then There Were None, and everyone else seems to love it. 🤷‍♀️ For stand-alones, the Secret of Chimneys and The Man in the Brown Suit are both terrific and early works. (Chimneys is actually a Superintendent Battle, a recurring character in a few). You‘ll draw your own conclusions 😄 But I know you will enjoy Dame Agatha! ⬇️ 5y
mabell I‘m looking forward to seeing what you think! I‘m excited for you! 5y
erzascarletbookgasm Go with Poirot if you like your detective quirky, even pompous but undeniably intelligent. My favourite featuring Poirot - The Murder Of Roger Ackyord. Miss Marple is great too. For Tommy and Tuppence, perhaps you‘ll want to start from the first book. If you wish to read stand alones, my favourites- And Then There Were None, Endless Night, Crooked House ( you‘ve read), Ordeal by Innocence. Happy discovering your favourite Christie! 5y
Lady_Tigana_20 I started by reading a biography of her life. Then I worked my way through her Miss Marples, starting with the first one: The Murder at the Vicarage. There are 12 of those plus a book of short stories. I have only read two Poirots: Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile. Plan to start Poirot after I get some of my TBR list knocked down a bit. I haven‘t been that big a mystery reader—although I love Elizabeth Peters—but I like Christie. 5y
robinb @Jaimelire I‘m really looking forward to reading them all at some point! Thanks for your input! 5y
robinb @mabell Thanks Elizabeth! Yes, I can tell the opinions vary, but I have a feeling I‘ll like them all (some more than others no doubt). I‘m excited too! I just wish I had started sooner! 🤣🤦🏻‍♀️ 5y
robinb @erzascarletbookgasm I think I‘ll probably enjoy all of the characters if the stories are all well written. 😊👍 Thanks so much for your recs...I‘m so excited for the discovery as well! 5y
robinb @Lady_Tigana_20 Now that‘s a great way to start with any new author...with their biography! Sounds like you‘ve definitely got a system for working your way through...that‘s what I plan to do as well, come up with a reading plan. I haven‘t read Peters either, but I do have her first in the Peabody series. 👍 I just need more hours in the day! 😂😩 Thanks for sharing your experience with Christie! 5y
robinb @Rachbb3 Rachel, I just printed out the 8 page list of her books/stories (thanks for the link!) and went through to mark them as Poirot, Marple, etc. That‘s a handy list to have! 👍💕 5y
Rachbb3 You're welcome! 😊 It's handy to have. 5y
Sarah83 As the others already said, everyone likes different books written by her. I personally like the locked in mysteries written by her. When I was younger, I only liked Miss Marple, but it turned out, that I can read Poirot today aswell. If you like Sherlock Holmes Poirot always seems like a bit of a parody of Sherlock. It's the same buddy construction as Holmes & Watson by Doyle so it's Poirot & Hastings by Christie. 5y
robinb @Sarah83 Locked in mysteries are so cool! 👍 The truth is I haven‘t read any Sherlock either (although I do ❤️ the Elementary series on tv 🤣). Guess I‘ll need to tackle Doyle next. 😉 Looking forward to meeting all these wonderful and interesting characters! Thanks for your input! 5y
Sarah83 You're welcome 😍 5y

Need some help please! What are your best book recommendations for books with happy endings? Ones that don‘t have a lot of steamy sex in them. Think feel-good & bubbly. I‘m looking for my swap, and this is a genre I haven‘t read too much from in a while. Thank you!

Amandajoy @Tamra I read that one around the same time I read We Have Always Lived in the Castle & constantly get the titles mixed up. My first thought was maybe I need to be more specific about what a happy ending is! But that‘s a good suggestion. 5y
Amandajoy @ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled that‘s a good one! I forgot about it! 5y
Tamra @Amandajoy hahahaha! 😆 Yes, I‘d there is a bit of a distinction between there two. I am NOT a saccharine or coming of age reader, but I loved Capture the Castle. I was so surprised at its charm. Same with A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, though it‘s been so long that I can‘t recall the ending. I remember the lice & kerosene treatment! 5y

Does anyone have recommendations for places to visit while we‘re hiking through Mt Zion and Bryce Canyon? I think we‘re spending one day in Bryce and two in Zion. Any good bookstores? Breweries? Restaurants?

Chrissyreadit Zion is my favorite place in this entire country. Have a great time!!! 5y

eraderneely 😍😍😍 5y
JanuarieTimewalker13 I LOVED Zion!!! My friend and I drove from Vegas. It‘s a ride. You know, Mesquite , Nevada is a cool place to visit, right over border from St George, Utah. If you want to gamble. I love Casablanca hotel...stay overnight, they have a pretty pool. Keep in mind we did this back in ‘09. Not sure if things have changed. 5y
nelehelen I love love Zion and Bryce! Enjoy!! 5y
PerksOfBeingABookworm @bridge12 thanks for the recommendation! I was flipping through the book and CR is actually in there! Hopefully we have time to check it out. 5y
rretzler Both are beautiful parks. We were there about 3 years ago and I can‘t remember any specific places to visit, but it is packed in the summer. I remember we tried to eat lunch in the little town near the visitors center of Zion (I think) and had to wait over an hour at a small cafe for our food and a table. Unless you plan to bring your own food, allow plenty of extra time 5y

AsYouWish Superstitious by R.L. Stine is pretty good. I also love the Vampire Academy series. Slow Burn by Julie Garwood or actually anything by Julie Garwood. She writes historical romance and contemporary romance/mysteryish books. 6y

ashley_o13 @AsYouWish I actually have superstitious and the vampire academy series in my cart on thrift books 😂. And I'll check out slow burn !! 😁 Thanks 6y
Trollkonstnaren Fiction or non-fiction? I read more from fiction so here we go 😊 In a deep deep woods was exciting crime/horror. And one of my current reads is John Cabbal the Necromancer (also crime/horror). I can recommend both as they have a dark tune to keep you hooked every moment. 6y
Trollkonstnaren And then there is The Baztan trilogy. It combines crime solving and mytology very intensively and gives a nice twist for traditional crime genre. 6y
ashley_o13 @Trollkonstnaren yes I love fiction! And thanks for the recommendations. Question in the deep deep woods. Did you mean in the dark dark woods by Ruth Ware or is it something different? I have that on my bookshelf and have been pushing it off because I hated the Lying Game by her lol. Baztan trilogy sounds interesting I'll check them out 😁 6y
Trollkonstnaren Yes, that one ☺️ My (translation) mistake, but great that you pointed out the right book 😊 And Baztan trilogy is great! I read them very fast because the story kept a tight hold on me. 6y

ScorpioBookDreams Anything by Maggie Stiefvater too. The Raven Cycle is finished at four books or I love the Scorpio Races. 6y
mom2bugnbee is a trilogy, I believe. 6y
cathysaid While it's not technically YA, Rabbit Cake is narrated by a quirky 12-year-old named Elvis. Her mother has died and her family is falling apart, but Elvis brings some humorous and honest perspective to the events that follow. 6y

I want to read more biographies this year and I‘m looking for recommendations; specifically biographies about Freddy Mercury and the Kennedys. I‘d also like to know your favorite biographies.

Tamra McCullough‘s biography on Truman is also good. But, Adams is the better. (edited) 6y
Kaye This was quite interesting. Read it many years ago, but out in Kindle now. 6y
See All 8 Comments
Kaye Very well written autobiography about Ted Kennedy. I wanted to know how he got through so many tragedies in life and kept on getting out of bed every day to go to work and help others. (edited) 6y
Aloisi_tribe @Tamra John Adams is not only one of the best biographies I‘ve read, it‘s one of the best books I‘ve read period. I have a copy of Truman waiting on my TBR shelf. Thanks for the recommendations! 6y
Aloisi_tribe @Kaye I‘ll have to look for those. There are so many Kennedy books out there, I had no clue where to start. 6y
Kaye Yes, I do believe a person could spend years reading books just about the Kennedys. I liked the 2 I mentioned because I wondered how the mom and brother got through so much grief . Quite an interesting family. @Aloisi_tribe 6y
Tamra @Aloisi_tribe yes! It was the first Bio I truly enjoyed. Memorable reading experience! 6y

Calling all Sci-Fi Littens! I‘ve never read anything by Ursula K. LeGuin and obviously I need to correct that. Where should I begin?

DivineDiana Following. 📚 6y
Knightingale Probably start with Left Hand of Darkness. She had such a large body of work that it‘s hard to say which direction to go from there. 6y
pilardib I read The dispossessed and liked it. Hope that helps 6y

Melissa_J I‘m glad you asked this question because I‘ve never read any of her work either and was just wondering where to start. 6y
Librarianaut Ditto what @ForeverNerdy said... 6y
Bibliogeekery The Dispossessed is my favourite 6y
rwmg It depends what you like. My favourite short story is "Semley's Necklace", which is also a prologue to "Rocannon's World". It's hard to beat for sheer mythic beauty. Some say "The Word for World is Forest" was the inspiration for the film Avatar. For an exploration of political ideas, I would go for "The Dispossessed", and for ideas on gender "The Left Hand of Darkness". 6y

Littens!! I need your help. I very recently started listening to audiobooks on my commute (kinda helps to keep my hands free when I'm jammed up on strangers on the L train 😂) but I'm a total newbie. Started with Born a Crime (loved) and just finished Waking Gods. Now I'm totally lost as to what to pick next.

Can you give me some audio recommendations?!

12parsecs I'm listening to The Fifth Season right now, and I'm so glad I chose to listen instead of read! It's soooo detailed and would be quite a chunky read, but this the voices for each character it's easier to follow the story line 😜 7y
GarthRanzz Ready Player One is a great listen. If you like GoT those will take you a year to get through! 7y
UwannaPublishme I listen to mostly memoirs. If that's your thing: I'm listening to Tippi (Hedren) now and also enjoyed: 7y
See All 42 Comments
Amie When I started listening to audiobooks I found nonfiction to be the easiest to follow until I got used to them. I also see The Serpent King and Etiquette and Espionage on your TBR stack and I liked both of those on audio. 7y
swishandflick @12parsecs Sweet! That's actually already on my TBR so I'll have to check it out! Thanks!! 7y
JenP @mjdowens ooh, that's a great audio! 7y
swishandflick @GarthRanzz I love Ready Player One!! Could probably go for a re-read 🤔 7y
JenP I love anything narrated by Neil Gaiman. Generally his books are hit or miss with me but even the ones I would like if I read them are made awesome by his narration 7y
CaliforniaCay Aziz ansari's modern romance - made me laugh out loud many times when I used to commute 😂 7y
swishandflick @UwannaPublishme @amie Thanks!! Nonfiction/memoirs might be the way to go - I had no trouble at all following Trevor Noah. I also don't read enough nonfiction as it is so maybe this is the way I fill that void on my TBR 😄 Thank you for your suggestions! 7y
swishandflick @mjdowens @JenP Gahh, love Ove!! If only I hadnt so recently read it. I'll still put it on my list, maybe for a re-read/listen at some point 😄 7y
Kris10 I listened to all the Robert Galbraith books (Cormoran Strike series) on audio and loved them, even after bailing on the print version twice. It's super long, but I also finished 11/22/63 not long ago and loved it too. 7y
BarbaraTheBibliophage Al Franken's new book is great - he does a great job narrating. I've listened to most of the Kinsey Millhone books by Sue Grafton on audio. Great narrator and easy reads. The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon is amazing on audio - great narrator. 7y
MarriedtoMrT Can't recommend the audio for Shadowshaper enough. Awesome narrator! 7y
JenReadsAlot I do nonfiction on audio. Really enjoyed Modern Romance and Bossy Pants. Many others if you like nonfiction let me know! 7y
Iindseyo One of my go-to's is The Rook. Set in an alternate London, a woman wakes up with no memory and has to figure out who she is. Turns out she works at a Ministry of Magic type org where hijinks ensue. 😊 Fun fish-out-of-water antics and a great British accent from the narrator! 7y
swishandflick @JenReadsAlot Yes! I'm thinking that nonfiction could be my audio niche (I really really enjoyed Born a Crime). Have you listened to Kevin Hart's new book? I'm beginning to gravitate towards that. 7y
JenReadsAlot Born a Crime was great! I have not done Kevin Hart so let me know what you think! 7y
bookishkai The mystery series by Julia Spencer Fleming, starting with 7y
bookishkai And also the Kate Martinelli series by Laurie R King, starting with 7y
swishandflick @bookishkris Thank you!! These look great. Outlander is one of my all-time favorite series and i've heard such great things about the audio but the 30-hour part scares me a bit! Still, could be awesome to experience them in a new way 😄 7y
Clwojick If you like creepy mysteries, I loved the audiobook (edited) 7y
Clwojick Or for something more fun and easy going, I laughed all the way thru 7y
brittanyreads I'm also currently listening to this. I literally find myself laughing out loud while I run. 😂 7y
tjramsey75 Ready Player One narrated by Will Wheaton. Amazing. Also liked Every Heart a Doorway, Down Among the Sticks and Bones, Americanah and The Unseen World (edited) 7y
heikemarie I love any memoir read by the author. So Mindy Kaling, Felicia Day, Carrie Fisher, Marcus Samuelsson are all great by me! 7y
L_auren Agree with any memior read by author as well as ready player one. Adding (edited) 7y
Bluebird Lots of great recommendations above! After glancing at your to read list, I recommend Age of Myth by Michael Sullivan. I've read many of his other books on audio and loved them. Tim Gerard Reynolds is great! 7y
Birdsong28 Get the audible daily deal so you can see different books each day for a really good price. 📖📚 7y
swishandflick @Birdsong28 Great tip, thank you!!! I didn't even know that was a thing 😄 7y
swishandflick @BBL4nkensh1p @inwhichHeikereadsharder @L_auren @Clwojick Thanks! I'm leaning towards starting with memoirs on audio, so this is super helpful! 😄 (edited) 7y

Hey Mystery-Loving Littens, I'm looking for recommendations for somewhat under-the-radar, fun mystery books. On the cozy side.
A good friend has been diagnosed with cancer ?( a "treatable" kind) so she should be okay but still...
She likes mysteries (huge Murder She Wrote fan) but doesn't read them a ton.
Any suggestions are welcome. Beyond the obvious, I'm clueless.
Thank you!

Verity Some fab recommendations here already. @Jess_Read_This tagged me earlier for mentioning Max Tudor and it got me thinking too. I love Donna Andrews Meg Langslow books which are not necessarily under the radar but a good long series which might be good if there's a lot of time to fill. I've tagged the first one. 7y
Verity I also really liked the Mitchell and Markby series when I read it a few years back, which is older and may be more under the radar. Ex diplomat and a policeman. I've tagged the first one but iirc the series is a bit of a slow starter. (edited) 7y
Lindy Best wishes to your friend. My recommendation isn't under the radar, but how about something from this series: 7y
batsy I'm sorry about your friend and wish her all the best. Deanna Raybourn's Lady Julia Grey series are fun, witty mysteries 7y

batsy Stephanie Barron has a series featuring Jane Austen as the sleuth, sounds like it can go very wrong but they're actually quite good. Oooh, and Dorothy Sayers and Josephine Tey ❤️ 7y

Give me ladies who love each other pls. Thank you times a billion 💞 #queerbooks

Yamich49 Ooooo so many good ones out there. Let me think.... 7y

Yamich49 Kickass super hero story 7y
Yamich49 Another kickass super hero story. Sorry is this all too close to comics? 😆 7y
Yamich49 Adorable wlw fantasy romance story 7y
Yamich49 Wacky wlw sci fi 7y
silentrequiem Not on Litsy, but I loved The Tea Machine by Gill McKnight. There are giant space squid, steampunk Roman Empire, and time traveling lesbians. It's super fun. Unfortunately there's no book 2 yet and it ends on a cliffhanger. 7y
silentrequiem Also this one. 7y
bookwrm526 This one has a queer w/w couple as secondary characters, and there's a novella after this called Ghost Girl in the Corner that focuses on that couple 7y
moranadatter It's a dystopia, but the tone is light and funny. Edit: @Yamich49 beat me to it so seconding the rec for (edited) 7y
moranadatter Also, this has been on my TBR forever. If you beat me to it, let me know if it is good: 7y

Book rec request: indigenous nonfiction, please. Especially books by/about native women, and indigenous perspectives on American history. (preferably written by natives, because we should all have serious trust issues with non-natives writing about indigenous history & perspectives.)Trying to make a much bigger effort to read indigenous perspectives. Thank you!!!! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

Melissa_J While not about or by a native woman, I recommend Thomas King's 7y
drokka This is a fiction, but written by a Native anthropologist who worked under Frank Boaz (so loads of controversy there) and was finally published posthumously. It gives insight into conditions in Sioux communities at the time. It covers things such as community, healing, gender roles. 7y

teebe Anything by Winona LaDuke or Joy Harjo. 7y
Hooked_on_books I haven't actually read this one, but her novel Ceremony is amazing and this is supposed to be really good: 7y

I don't listen to audiobooks, but I've been curious about them lately. I'd love to hear your recommendations!
@RealLifeReading

LindsayReads I recommend anything Bahni Turpin reads! 7y
Lindy I second what @LindsayReads said: Bahni Turpin ❤️. Also, look for narrator Robin Miles. 7y

Chelsea.Poole One of the first audiobooks I remember loving is 7y
HippieChickHomeschool I have to third @LindsayReads and @Lindy Bahni Turpin is fabulous. Comedians reading their own books are what I usually suggest to first timers. My all time favorite listen is 7y
Lindy @HippieChickHomeschool Funny people reading their own work: a big yes! Which reminds me to recommend 7y
sammisho Anything by Neil Gaiman! He reads his own books and his voice is dreamy! 😍 7y
diovival @LindsayReads @Lindy @Matilda @Chelsea.Poole @HippieChickHomeschool @sammisho Thank you all! I am loving all the recommendations! I'll be sure to report back how my audio adventures go. 7y
CouronneDhiver Everyone seems to enjoy Trevor Noah's audiobook: 7y
diovival @CouronneDhiver I noticed that too. I think my library may have the audio copy. 7y
CouronneDhiver @diovival I loved it too, but I read the book instead of checking out the audio 7y
Hooked_on_books Ditto @CouronneDhiver - great audio. I also loved Tina Fey reading Bossypants. And this was a recent great listen: 7y
