Encyclopedia of Cabbage Patch Kids: The 1980s | Jan Lindenberger, Judy Morris
3 posts
Since 1978 when Cabbage Patch Kids*r dolls were "born," children have cuddled them and added new members of the clan into their hearts. This book presents the many varieties in 60 specialty lines made by three major U.S. toy companies (Coleco, Hasbro, Mattel) and many foreign companies (including Jesmar, Tsukuda, Tri-Ang Pedigree, Lili Ledy) in the 1980s. Over 750 color photos with descriptions and pricing information make this the most useful book for identifying Cabbage Patch Kids dolls.

Scary or cute? You decide. At Babyland (Cabbage Patch Doll Hospital/Museum. #scarathlon #teamslaughter

wildwoodreads I‘ve loved Cabbage Patch Kids for forever. So I‘ve been conditioned to the story since childhood. However, if I had been introduced to this as an adult I would probably find it very scary. 😂 3y
katy4peas Hmm. I had cabbage patch dolls, but never knew the story or put it together with them growing in cabbage. This is kinda creepy. 😟 😂 3y
Scochrane26 @megzlynn I was a kid during the cabbage patch doll craze, but I think the patch is both creepy & cute, depending which way you look. Saw a Cabbage patch birth while here. (edited) 3y

Instead of reading I‘m cooking and watching a house with a clock in its walls. About 3 am my house will stink to high heaven. But by 7 am it will smell delicious.

Apparently it‘s good luck to eat cabbage on the new year. So I am making it with some corned beef this year.

pilardib I watched that movie yesterday and really liked it! 5y
LibrarianRyan @pilardib I saw it I. The theater and really enjoyed it. I‘ve spent today watching movies based on books. 5y
SaturnDoo Yummmm...I love corned beef and cabbage. Tradition for us, is to put a dime (a clean one of course 😂) in the cabbage for wealth. The finder of the dime will be even more prosperous. 5y

LibrarianRyan @SaturnDoo I will have to go dig through my change. I‘ll do that when I turn the ham broth off in about an hour. Thanks. 5y
SaturnDoo @LibrarianRyan YW ❤ My step-mother carried that over to us from her mother and grandmother ☺ 5y
LibrarianRyan @SaturnDoo I don‘t know where dad picked it up from. Maybe his navy travels. Were Dutch and German but we grams family naturally ate cabbage a lot so maybe I just never noticed it. 5y
TiredLibrarian @LibrarianRyan How interesting. The tradition in my family was oysters. I really don't like them. For years my mother used to foist oyster stew on me, and then she gave up making it & I never took it up. We're mostly Irish & some German; no idea where the tradition came from. 5y
AlwaysForeverReading I cooked cabbage as well. 5y

While helping my parents unpack, we came across a huge bag of old toys and Lane fell in love with this doll that belonged to my sister. He hasn‘t let go of it since. I had planned on buying him a cabbage patch baby for Christmas so it‘s nice to see he likes this one so well!

ReadingRover I used to love my cabbage patch kid. I had 3 at one point. But the first one I got for Christmas and when my dad went to the store they were out so he ended up getting one from some shady guy he had to meet on the side of the highway. Lol this was back in the 80s before eBay! 😂 6y
