Despite being fairly unfamiliar with the 7th Doctor or his companions, this was still a fun read, a nice slow paced mystery that came together logically at the end. Unlike the adventures I've read of the 10th and 11th Doctors, which were self contained stories, this book is really part of series that you need to have read previous books to get the full geist of the characters. 3💥💥💥 1/2 out of 5.

I've started tracking progress on the Doctor Who audios I listen to (as well as the episodes I watch and books I read) in my bullet journal.

I absolutely loved this Doctor Who New Adventures book that sends the TARDIS crew to a civilization very much like Iain M. Banks' creation, the Culture! This is the Seventh Doctor at his most scheming, with Benny acting as a counterweigh to his manipulations. Roz really shines in this one, with a murder in utopia giving her a chance to do some good old fashioned police work (her and Chris questioning an AI is hilarious). Top notch Who! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

TobeyTheScavengerMonk I‘m not as familiar with 7 but the Doctor and the Culture would be an insane crossover. 6y
Anton @TobeyTheScavengerMonk I've only read a bit of the Culture series, but I could definitely tell this book was inspired by it. Lots of Ships and drones and people living their best lives in a post-scarcity civilization that's so advanced it has a non-aggression pact with the Time Lords. 6y

I knew we'd see Kadiatu Lethbridge-Stewart again after her introduction in Transit, and I should have expected it would be in another book written by Ben Aaronovitch, but I was still pleasantly surprised to see her show up in this one.

I have doubts, but doubts are good. Davros had no doubts, neither did the Master. Cybermen and Sontarans have never a care. They wouldn't stand on a balcony in the unreal light of an artificial planet and ask themselves what it all means, really, when you get right down to it.  Doubts are good, they're what makes me – Human?

Starting my first Doctor Who book of 2018! I decided to return to the New Adventures series but to jump forward to a book with the companion line up of Benny, Roz, and Chris.
