Wormwood, Gentleman Corpse: Mr. Wormwood Goes to Washington
Wormwood, Gentleman Corpse: Mr. Wormwood Goes to Washington | Ben Templesmith
3 posts | 8 read | 7 to read
Comics most genteel zombie returns with his signature blend of macabre humor, hilarious horror, gore, gags (the funny kind), and gags (the trying-not-to-vomit kind). Wormwood has been gone for some time. Too long, if you were to ask his old friends. So, when a special agent from the U.S. government asked for Wormwoods help, they were determined to track him down, no matter what dimension hed buggered off to. Now that hes back, things are about to get political. He and the gang are off to Washington, where, for once, his heart may be the warmest one around.

I really enjoyed this graphic novel. It was a quick and quirky read. The drawings were beautiful - invoking a bleak and dark world. The storyline was darkly creative and funny. This first of three volumes features a sentient corpse-jacking demigod worm and his sidekicks - a ZZ Top robot, a ghost detective, and inter-dimensional door guarding immortal strippers, all out to save the world.

“Yes? Sweetie? I‘m kind of busy right now.”

This graphic novel is full of little gems like this. I laughed out loud at this one. Seriously, the main baddie gets a phone call from his wife, during the final battle, asking him to pick up the proverbial milk on his way home. What is better than that?
