Serendipity Market
Serendipity Market | Penny Blubaugh
1 post | 1 to read
When Toby breathes on Mama Inez's bird-shaped invitations, giving them the power to fly, plans for the Serendipity Market begin. Soon, eleven honored guests travel from afar and make their way to the storytellers' tent to share their stories. Each tale proves what Mama Inez knowsthat magic is everywhere. Sometimes it shows itself subtlya ray of sun glinting on a gold coin, or a girl picking a rose without getting pricked by the thornand sometimes it makes itself known with trumpets and fireworks. But when real magic is combined with the magic of storytelling, it can change the world. This is a breathtaking debut novel written with elegance and grace.

I‘ve been feeling a little better recently, & have been working on my house, cleaning up & out. And while I firmly believe that one can never have too many books, I‘ve started to feel the weight of my unreads (currently 2,254 physicals) & want to do something about it. Since it‘s humid & gross outside & I suddenly got the day off, I decided to pull a few off of my shelves for some Speed Dating. 20-50 pgs each, & if I‘m not intrigued, out they go!

readordierachel What a great idea! Good luck! 6y
LauraBrook @ReadOrDieRachel Thanks! I‘m hoping I can keep the momentum going for at least one more round today. 🤞🏼 6y
LeahBergen I recently had a big shelf clearing (and I gave many books a “three page scan” before I got rid of them 😂). 6y

2BR02B I do this occasionally too. But wow, that is a mind-boggling number of unread books! 6y
LauraBrook @LeahBergen I‘m impressed! Did you make a decently sized dent in your library? 6y
LauraBrook @2BR02B That‘s what happens when you‘ve always been a book hoarder I MEAN LOVER who really only buys books. The sad part is that I keep finding an oddball here and there that‘s unlisted. And if anything makes me happy, it‘s adding new books to my LibraryThing library! 🤓 6y
LeahBergen @LauraBrook Yep! I got rid of about 200. I try to do this once a year or so. 😆 6y
LauraBrook @LeahBergen You are my idol! 200 in one round? I am majorly impressed. (Also, feel free to send your rejects my way. We don‘t have to tell anyone else. 😉😂😉) 6y
MicheleinPhilly 😳😳😳2200+???? *feels so much better about her TBR; orders more books* 6y
2BR02B @LauraBrook I know what you mean- ever since I discovered the LT app, I'm addicted. Scanning barcodes and hearing the little beep is so satisfying. 6y
DivaDiane Oh wow! You have beat even me and @julesG ! You need the #MountTBR challenge! Join us. It‘s as challenging or as low key as you want it to be. 6y
julesG @DivaDiane Definitely! I could not fit 2000+ physical books into my flat. I'm glad my #MountTBR is mainly made of ebooks (Kindle/Amazon showed me more than 900 books in their cloud, after I installed the Kindle App yesterday - I'm insane! How did I manage to buy so many books? No wonder I never have money.) 6y
Suet624 I‘m feeling the weight of my unread books too. Your post hit home for me. 6y
LauraBrook @suet624 It‘s surprising that we don‘t feel or notice that weight more often, isn‘t it? 6y
Suet624 Yes! I think I use it as a way to feel guilty. (edited) 6y
