I‘ve been wanting to read Sansom for years, and an Instagram friend recommended the Patrick Melrose novels to me.

The edition I read from the library last year didn't have "At Last." Happy I'll have a chance to finish the series with this omnibus I found at Mr. K's today.
Finally took the plunge. Finished the first novella. Not quite prepared for how dark this has turned out to be. So far, St Aubyn‘s prose cuts like a razor...
so-soThis is actually 5 books in one cover. It follows the life of Patrick from age 5 to about age 45. Reading it was kind of a slog. Neither of Patrick‘s parents is capable and his father is downright sadistic. The books were made into a limited series on Showtime, with Benedict Cumberbatch as Patrick. I think I would rather see the series. There‘s a lot of dark humor here. I give it 3 out of 5 stars.
bailedIt was very....boring. I‘m just going to say it; it was boring. I‘ve heard great things about the miniseries so I‘ll go watch that instead.
