1. Yes, recently started again
2. Usually working
3. Assuming I'm listening while working, I can catalog while I listen, but I cannot do selection, because I can't read book reviews and comprehend both that and the audio.
3. When the narrator doesn't fit the story. Even worse, when the Playaway glitches and keeps stopping repeatedly. Had several we had to send back for this.
4. Regular speed

1. Yes, but not as much as paper books. If I'm listening to something I often prefer music or podcasts.
2. I mostly listen when working out and choresing.
3. I can't do nothing. If I try to listen without a secondary task to occupy me, I lose focus.
4. Female narrators lowering their vocal register for male characters, male narrators using falsetto for female characters.
5. 1.25x or 1.5x

quietlycuriouskate With you on 4. I can't even remember which book I was listening to now but one time the narrator did this thing with her voice that made the male characters all sound like Nelson from The Simpsons: distracting, to say the least! 6y
2BR02B @River_Voice ?? That would likely be so distracting I wouldn't be able to continue! I'd keep expecting a "ha-ha!" 6y

1. YES! I live for audiobooks. Like, addicted.
2. Cooking, dishes, laundry... everything.
3. Listen to my husband talk to me... *pause, huh?
4. Sometimes the narrator is just WRONG.
5. Faster, 1.25 is usually my sweet spot.

4.) Sometimes the narrators kill the book for me.
5.) Regular

SilversReviews Good answers. I haven‘t gotten a bad narrator YET. I hope I don‘t. 😊 6y
Birdsong28 I have learnt to sample the book on Audible before I buy as I have been burned by a bad narrator before now. 📚📖 6y

#LitsyPSA: It looks like Audible is offering 3 months of your subscription for $4.95 if you‘re an Amazon Prime member. You can‘t already have a subscription but from the looks of it if you‘ve had one in the past but don‘t now you‘re eligible. I might do another round of Audible is I‘m going to save $10 a month for a few months!
