Mehso-so

You know when you‘re packing for a trip and you‘re like, “There. I have everything I need.” But then your Midwestern Panic hits and you start shoving random crap in your bag b/c sure, you‘re only going for 3 days, but if you need those rhinestoned-to-hell stilettos and you don‘t have them, you‘re gonna look so silly. That‘s this book. It‘s a good plot, the characters are interesting. There‘s just SO👏🏻MUCH👏🏻SHOVED👏🏻IN👏🏻 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻

AshleyHoss820 This is the 14th book in the series & that may be the issue. There‘s always that need to “up the ante” as a procedural ages. Often, I was hooked, but then the author would divert to yet another plot (coal union corruption in WV, an angsty teen romance, precocious twin boys, a Vietnamese gangster) and we‘d start the dance all over again. The best part of the book, for me: the dogs, Gog and Magog. I‘ll try some others in the series before giving up. 2y

I don‘t even know what‘s happening with this book. If you cut out these weird asides that have nothing to do with the narrative (or maybe they do but they take me out of the plot), this book would maybe be half as long. There‘s just been some weird plot points/diversions. Has anyone else read this, or this series, cuz I‘m all alone in the review section. It was on a PDF I found for the #RoryGilmoreChallenge
