On the meh side of So-So, this brief read had an intriguing premise but, for me, lacked somewhat in the execution. The quality of the writing is patchy, fairly decent when it's good but bog standard when it's not. Repetitive in places, especially in dialogue. The author does set a good scene and create an interesting character (Astara) but frustratingly the narrative is more concerned with the less interesting Evie.
