Pickpick

This was a great read. It was a tough read in that the author so clearly lays out all of the atrocities this city has committed and has seen since its foundation. If you like history, albeit Unhealed History, i recommend this book. I think it is an important read, too, to understand all of the underlying racism and inequality that still lies beneath the surface in much of Our American culture

Snow delay means a little extra time to read this AM! Here‘s hoping it turns into a full snow day! 🙏🤞🤞

Out and about today. Could be at home watching tv, but took myself out to get a tea and read! 🍵📚

Making some headway in the books I started at the end of last year. So far I‘ve been sticking with my resolution with reading and keeping the tv off! And I‘m enjoying getting into this non-fiction today. Unfortunately, Richmond‘s history reads a lot like Game of Thrones in some ways 😜😔✌️But it makes for a good read?? Sigh.

My list of books read in 2018 is somewhat shameful to me. I usually read at least upwards of 20 books a year (which I know still isn‘t a lot for a lot of you ;) Last year I only completed 11 books and started like 8 that I never finished 😢 I am still working on some of the ones that I started last year and one of goals for 2019 is to READ MORE!!!! I promise y‘all that I‘m gonna do it ✊💪🙌

Chelsea.Poole Have you ever tried audiobooks? That's how I am able to read more. It also helps with finishing them, just don't start a new one until the first is done! 😊 5y
Julz422 @Chelsea.Poole I really only listen to podcasts and books on long car rides which don‘t happen often! I like to sit with a book when I can. But I may try audiobooks more in 2019! 5y

On Sunday, one of the deacons at my parish led us on a historic walk through the Slave Trail in Richmond. He referenced this book along the way. Some of the other attendees and I decided to commit to reading it. Looking forward to learning more about my city‘s painful truths.

Owlizabeth I love this! 6y
