Agatha Kyteler is the neighbourhood witch, a healer and midwife, feared by superstitious villagers, but they wouldn't live without her, and continuously seek her help. When her body is discovered in a hedge, frozen and horribly disfigured, there are no clues as to who the murderer is. That is, until a local youth runs away Sir Baldwin and Simon Puttock must once again join forces, determined to prove the boy's innocence.

Mehso-so

A knight and a bailiff try to solve the murder of an old woman, the so-called witch in the German title of the book. There's a lot of riding to and fro, and speaking to the same people again and again. The book was okay, but nothing special.

In my neighbourhood there's a basement window sill that acts as a small free library. I took this book with me when I passed it today. I have never heard of the book or the author, but the blurb promises it's in the vein of the Cadfael series. We'll see!
