Saw this in Trinity College today.... in 2011 Susan Rennie ‘discovered‘ this dictionary of Scottish language written by James Boswell in the 1760s. It was hiding in the library attributed to the wrong person and given a much more recent date. If it had been published in the year it was written it would have been the first of its kind. Amazingly, Susan is using it to her translation of Tintin into Scots!

LeahBergen Wow! That‘s so cool. 5y
Mitch @LeahBergen it was such a beautiful boo and I love how she‘s actually using it! 5y

I am looking forward to browsing through this, not least to see if it includes some of the glorious old Dumfriesshire words and phrases with which my mother used to enthral us. #books #bookstagram #booksbooksbooks #bookcommunity #booknerd #bookphotography #newbooks #bookish #ilovebooks #bookworm #postcriptbooks #dictionaryofscottishphraseandfable
