So @reelsndreads posted about her tween years watching Lizzie McGuire (totally appropriate)!
So that made me think about mine. I was absolutely not allowed to watch YCDTOT, an actual program for kids.
However, MTV was new and I was totally allowed to watch GM‘s I Want Your Sex in elementary school and the original seasons of The Real World in middle school.
My mom was normally a good parent, but like most Boomers, had no idea about MTV! 😆
Megabooks @Cinfhen #likeaprayer was in for me, but some of my Catholic friends‘ parents heard about how sacrilegious it was 😱😱 so MTV was out for awhile with them! #movember Remember what a big deal the Catholic leadership made about Madonna in the 80s! 4y
Cinfhen During your in between years I was already a mom!!!! That‘s scary😱I don‘t remember my mom really restricting our TV viewing, but I know many parents did. When i think about what my kids watched 😳especially my youngest is 7 & 9 years difference in age so that kid was really watching inappropriate material 😜😂and he turned out GREAT❤️ 4y
Megabooks @Cinfhen you know what‘s even scarier, especially to me, I‘ll be 40 in March! 😱😱😱 most of my irl friends were born 78-82, so we‘re in-betweens and have these same odd touchstones. Definitely had pre-Disneyfied childhoods! We watched Pretty Woman and The Breakfast Club, and if the parents were strict, we watched things like The Sound of Music and The Wizard of Oz. No Belle, Ariel any of that. 4y

Megabooks @Cinfhen Yes, I‘m hoping to celebrate in Seattle with my closest friend whom I haven‘t seen in 5 years. Kids (hers), careers (both) and health (me) have gotten in the way of getting together in our 30s, so 🤞🏻 we see each other more with age! 4y

Megabooks @Reviewsbylola lolololol 😁😁 Dawson‘s Creek was filmed at Duke while I was there. West Campus was Joey‘s college. I lived in such a small town, that when it premiered, I think sometime around my senior year in hs, we didn‘t have the WB like as a town. 4y
