The Poet: Recusant | 
pickI occasionally get emails from a random author or publicist offering a book for review. I don't often accept but this one sounded interesting. The writing felt a little stilted, a little mechanical, almost a little distant. Almost too much narration of characters' movements. But it ended up being imminently readable. I mean I read it in two sittings. Akin to classic film noir, this book was compelling and unputdownable.
