Reading this book in the midst of all the kerfuffle around the potential repeal of Roe was like a knife in the heart. And it‘s a book for tweens! And it was heartbreaking to realize that nothing has changed at all! The other book that I had a hard time choosing between was Stamped (For Kids) — a version of Ibram X. Kendi‘s book geared toward 4th graders so my kid will be ready for it soon.

3✨I have been a fan of Dear America books since my dad introduced me to them as a little girl. They tell a fictional story in a diary format including actual events. This one is about the women‘s suffrage movement. Namely, on the picket lines, women imprisoned for “obstructing traffic”, hunger strikes, and WW1 events like women in the Red Cross and ambulance driving. Overall, it was historical, but our main character complained a lot.

Roary47 This also met several challenges: it is my February #DoubleBookSpin @TheAromaofBooks as well as a March bingo! It also fits in the #roaringwolf challenge for “History” @Littlewolf1 and it is an hour for #20in4 @Andrew65 Yay! 2y
TheAromaofBooks Great progress!!! 2y

So standardized tests, progress reports that made students turn in a lot, and planning/running my friends baby shower yesterday was exhausting. I‘m going to finish this hopefully before anyone gets up and just veg!

My new rooster is still struggling to learn his crow. It sounds like a garbled dying call. Very humorous and hard to read to. Lol

GondorGirl New rooster, but no photo? Why are you holding out on us?! 😂🥰 2y
Roary47 @GondorGirl Lol he was far away at the time. I‘ll make it a goal to show everyone soon. 😅💛 2y
