“Annalena is a universal figure and a universal way of religion because she belongs to the religion of love. Raised as a Catholic in a Catholic family and country. Behaved as a Somali and a Muslim in Africa. Died and then cremated as a Hindu, disappearing into fire and wind. If God exists, he is a god of love. Annalena is universal because love is universal.”

While I find this book interesting & educational, I still have mixed feelings. It seems so pieced together. It doesn‘t flow very well, which regularly pulls me out of the story & doesn‘t keep me as focused on it as I‘d like. // New goal: do a little walking outside of work daily. We have a tiny neighborhood but I did 2 rounds this morning since my neighbors skipped today. I don‘t like going to the bigger neighborhood on my own in the dark.

Pickpick

Annalena fought amid a volatile mix of war, disease and religious fundamentalism in the horn of Africa, not knowing what a difference one woman could make, but determined to make a difference and she truly did, but it was not the disease that ended up killing her, she Was murdered, shot in the head.
