Hello #bfcr2 buddies! I finished my 5th audiobook yesterday, but am kind of burnt out on them now. Instead I have been catching up on podcasts these last two days.
Any excellent audiobooks to recommend?
Also I have been seeing a lot of purple flowers this week and now really want some for my yard.
Going through my old books! I absolutely loved the Babysitter's Club as a kid! Claudia was my favorite! Looking forward to the Netflix revamp! #90'sgirl
This was a lot of fun! I literally remembered exact lines from the stories, even though it‘s been about 25 years since I read them. Yes, it‘s fairly simple middle grade, but they explore some serious topics in ways that I think would be helpful for young kids. Looking forward to continuing the series soon!
BOOK 1: 4/5 ⭐️
BOOK 2: 3/5 ⭐️
BOOK 3: 3/5 ⭐️
FUCK YEAH starting my BSC reread. Got a library card just for this purpose, LOL. One of my fave Booktubers, Kerryn at RatherBeReading, started rereading it last year, I thought it was a brilliant idea. I ADORED it as a girl, looking forward to visiting the girls & Stonybrook again! I know they‘re gonna be pretty simple, but it‘ll still be fun. Gonna blow through first 3 today! (They‘re 150 to 170 pages & font is big, not exactly a Herculean task)
I reread this one in nearly no time at all the other day just before listening to the corresponding episode of SSR Podcast (so fun!). I read every BSC book over and over when I was a kid and I could read them all again. ✨THIS REREAD WAS A DELIGHT!!✨ I remembered nearly all of the details on this one from Claudia‘s mean sister Janine to Mary Anne‘s strict dad to why Stacy is on a “diet.” BSC Forever!!
(I truly dislike these newer covers!)
Loved this book in graphic novel form! I can‘t wait to read the other ones 😊
1. I was a huge BSC fan. I even have the vhs of the show they made from different books and the board game
3. I do not, but I‘d love to learn to knit or cross stitch
4. Ljubljana, Slovenia or Zagreb or Zadar Croatia. They‘ve been my favorite cities I‘ve been too and some I‘ve felt homesick for.
5. ✋🏼happy weekend all
Sometimes you need to dive back into your childhood. I just started listening to the babysitters club club podcast and it is so funny. I‘m going to reread the books along with them. #nostalgia #childhood #originalcover https://headgum.com/the-baby-sitters-club-club
In Episode 7 of my podcast (out today!), my guest — senior editor at Cosmopolitan, Jessica Goodman — and I talk all things Baby-Sitters Club: famous foursomes, babysitting culture, and fab fashion (of course). Check out the link in my bio or search The SSR Podcast in iTunes or Google Play to listen!
I just saw this in Facebook!

Thank you @MatchlessMarie for your awesome #1kgiveaway!!
My biggest literary confession is that when I feel lonely or overwhelmed, I will sometimes go back and read a BSC book. I moved around a lot as a kid, & I think those girls were like friends that I always had with me. It‘s almost like comfort food but for my brain! 😂😂
#MarchIntoOz Day 28: When your child can enjoy an #AloneWithYou moment with a book, then you must have done something right. My girl and I loved this graphic novel adaptation of The Baby-Sitters Club which I personally didn‘t even read when I was a tweener (I was an SVH kind of girl back then). But this one was a quick and enjoyable read. Telgemeier is a master at graphic novels for younger readers.
1. probably SVH or BSC, as a kid. But as an adult, Outlander, eagerly waiting for the next book!
2.Most recently, Red Rising. I couldn't get past the first book.
3. Shelf it
4. Does my #covertocover group count? Even though we met on litsy? No in-person book clubs though.
Longest series: probably Baby-Sitters Club when I was a kid
Series I gave up on: Stephanie Plum - once Evanovich said Stephanie wasn't going to evolve any further or choose between Joe and Ranger, I just couldn't convince myself they were worth my time
Shelve or Pass: shelve; I'm a bit of a pack rat
Book Club: Not right now - I miss my old YA book club, but when I switched jobs, my schedule interferes with the meeting time.
Happy #TuesdayTidbits 😊
1. Hands down Babysitters Club (but I also loved Sweet Valley High and Fear Street)
2. Ready Player One (it wasn't published in 2017, but that's when I read it)
3. Dolores Umbridge. It's not even a competition.
4. Outlander (please don't hate--I tried really hard to both read the books AND watch the series and I just can't, no matter how adorable Jamie Fraser is or how much I like historical fiction)
5. @hermyknee 😘

📚 Little Fires Everywhere, by Celeste Ng
📚 Hmm, I was constantly annoyed with Thomas from Maze Runner

The BSC seem to back in a big way...
And I smile and reminisce every time I spot one ☺️
I was a little bummed that the library didn't have the cover from when I was a kid (back when it was a new release 😅). I haven't read this book since I was 11 but it all came back within the first 2 pages. It was so much fun reading this again. I'm currently trying to talk my daughter into reading it. These kids today don't know what they're missing! #Throwbackreadathon
Watching my nieces. Pretty sure I‘m doing this right.
I really enjoyed this update on a childhood favorite. When I was younger I didn‘t care for the Baby Sitters Club books. I did however love the Baby Sitters Club Mysteries. So it was refreshing to see Telgemeier‘s telling. It stays true to the originals, and still feels 80‘s, but it also feels modern and appropriate for today's youth. Even if most of them don‘t babysit.
Today's #bookmail #bookhaul - I had ordered the last remaining Babysitter's Club books to complete my #BSC collection and almost all of them arrived today! Still waiting on another package or two. SO CLOSE AND I AM SO EXCITED!!!
Just finished reading this. Been wanting to reread this for a long time. Will probably be reading all the other books too. Still as good as I remember, short but fun for a quick filler in between books. I also love the nostalgia.
Loved these growing up and it was so fun to flash back!
To celebrate my almost completed BSC collection (only 28 books left to collect), I'm rereading the series.
On a whim I typed the series title into Stictcher and discovered a great podcast of two best (guy) friends rereading all the books and discussing them!!
Right now they're talking about "toxic masculinity" the babysitters face in the book ? (the 1st page has a male teacher making her write about decorum for yelling "Yay" when school ends)
Someone in my book club gave me all of their old babysitter's club books today (for free)!!! The ones in the big box I own already and will pass on to someone else, all the others I'm adding to my collection! Can't believe my luck, lots of rare ones! (Just counted, I'm keeping 86 out of 153!)
I dropped Lane off for his first day at daycare this morning and I'm struggling with it... when I left he was already playing with some new friends and I know it will be good for him to socialize with kids around his age 3 days a week, but I think I'm going to be a nervous wreck the whole day! 😩😩😩
Books I #lovedatage10 I absolutely adored The Baby-sitter's Club books, from probably age 8 or 9 up through high school. I have the majority of the original ones that I'm saving for my daughter, and I can't wait to dig them out again! #17booklove @jess.h
My mom just bought this stack of BSC books for me. She found them in a used store. They were my favorites as a kid. I'm so excited!
All right, confession time. I'm trying to read my way through one of my favorite series as a kid. I follow The Babysitters Club Club podcast, and it's hilarious! These books are also a good palate cleanser since I can read them in one sitting. I'm having a hard time getting a hold of some of the books to keep reading in order, which is kind of a bummer. Anyone have any suggestions?
