The Booklover's Guide to New Orleans
The Booklover's Guide to New Orleans | Susan Larson
9 posts | 1 read | 6 to read
The literary tradition of New Orleans spans centuries and touches every genre; its living heritage winds through storied neighborhoods and is celebrated at numerous festivals across the city. For booklovers, a visit to the Big Easy isn't complete without whiling away the hours in an antiquarian bookstore in the French Quarter or stepping out on a literary walking tour. Perhaps only among the oak-lined avenues, Creole town houses, and famed hotels of New Orleans can the lust of A Streetcar Named Desire, the zaniness of A Confederacy of Dunces, the chill of Interview with the Vampire, and the heartbreak of Walker Percy's Moviegoer begin to resonate. Susan Larson's revised and updated edition of The Booklover's Guide to New Orleans not only explores the legacy of Tennessee Williams and William Faulkner, but also visits the haunts of celebrated writers of today, including Anne Rice and James Lee Burke. This definitive guide provides a key to the books, authors, festivals, stores, and famed addresses that make the Crescent City a literary destination.

Everyone! Hannah MAILED this to me and it literally arrived on the day I left for NOLA! Thank you HANNAH!!! So generous and sweet. I read it all on the plane and intend to reread it during my stay 😍

DeborahSmall Lucky you. Desperate to go back this year. It's amazing!! Remember and eat breakfast or brunch in The Ruby Slipper!! ❤️ 7y
Nat_Reads @DeborahSmall We did!! Excellent recommendation--so delicious. I can't wait to go back! 7y
DeborahSmall Brilliant! I have a friend coming from Glasgow to visit this weekend and she's visiting in October. I'm so jealous. Definitely asking her to bring me a T shirt from The Ruby Slipper. Although I'll be surprised if I see the year out without a visit x. Hope you had a wonderful time 7y

#TBR Tuesday in prep for the 24in48 Readathon! I have about a million books to read, but these are the ones I'm going to try and start with this weekend. Of course, I read as the wind blows me, and I also have some ebooks and audiobooks on my phone. So excited for my first big Readathon!

MrBook Wow! Awesome! I have Bookaneer! 😊 8y

I think is my goal this summer: to explore the literary history of the city with the family.
