Hey friends!!! Well, unbelievably October is rapidly approaching, and with it - #Scarathlon !!! This year, I've created a special edition #PromptMaze for the event. Many of the prompts can be filled by reading mystery/thriller/paranormal/etc although there are also some genre-neutral prompts as well. The link is below, and to participate you will want to go to File, then Make a Copy. Once you have your own copy, you can edit the maze so that you⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) can uncover the prompts!! The first tab on the spreadsheet has the instructions, but please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I would also love to hear about your progress as you make your way through the maze, so feel free to tag me!!

For points, each completed prompt will be worth TWENTY points!!!

Here's the link - have fun!!! ⬇

Larkken Love it! I keep forgetting to do the other ones, but now with spooky season reads? Yes please! 2y
MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm I‘m intrigued! Count me in! 2y
MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm @Chrissyreadit It took me a bit before I figured it out too. I haven‘t participated in this event or used this app before. I can try to help you out if you want. I didn‘t realize there were two sheets to toggle through at the bottom and kept clicking all over the “Instructions” one before I noticed the “Scarathlon Party” one. 😅 2y
Chrissyreadit @MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm yes- I would love help. First should I go on my computer instead of phone? 2y
MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm @Chrissyreadit It worked just fine on my iPhone, but I don‘t know if it‘s compatible with every phone. 2y
claudiuo Thank you so much for including me. I usually don't participate in readathons but I love the PromptMaze so I'm in. Thank you! 2y
TheAromaofBooks @Chrissyreadit - It is saved in Google Sheets (their version of Excel/spreadsheet). I always find things easier to do on my computer, but it should theoretically also work on a phone. The document opens to the Instructions tab like @MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm said, and at the bottom there is another tab that says Scarathlon Party. If you click on that you will see a sheet that is mostly blacked out. Each cell of the spreadsheet contains three ⬇ 2y
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) prompts. To uncover them, you first of all have to make your own copy so you can edit the spreadsheet, so click on File, then Make a Copy, and then save it. After that, you will be able to edit the copy you just made, which means you can click on any cell you want, then click the paint bucket and change the fill color of the cell. I have it set to black (the same color as the font) so that the prompts are surprises as you get to them!! ⬇ 2y
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) So first you click on cell A2, then the paint bucket and change the fill color so that you can see the words (literally any color other than black will allow the black font to show). Then you just follow the prompts - if you read a book with an amateur detective, you will move on to cell A3 and uncover that one. If you read a thriller, you'll go to cell C4, and a horror will take you to cell F1. Once you get there, you see if you can ⬇ 2y
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) read one of those prompts, and just keep going!! Hopefully this makes sense but please let me know if you have any questions, either on here or you can email me itsthegoodlife15 at gmail. Hope this helps!!! ❤ 2y
TheSpineView Thanks for putting this together. I'm in! 2y
kay.the.bibliophile Oooh I can't wait to try this out ☺️☺️ 2y
MidnightBookGirl Very cool- I'm all in! 2y
rsteve388 Do we start this now or do we start in October... :P 2y
TheAromaofBooks @rsteve388 - Well technically you are supposed to wait BUT if you like the prompt maze concept, here is the link to the other ones I've made through the year!! There are four (one for each quarter, although they aren't particularly seasonal haha).

2y
TheAromaofBooks @rsteve388 - Oh, and like the other, you'll just need to make your own copy of this so you can edit it and see the prompts!!! Also definitely planning one for WinterGames!! 😁 2y
Texreader If I can figure it out I‘m in!! 2y
TheAromaofBooks @Texreader - Please let me know if you have any questions!! 2y
Skygoddess1 I think I understand how this works, I‘m im! 2y
SeaToSkyes This sounds fun! 2y
Charityann How fun! I‘m in!😄 2y
AmandaBlaze Yay! Finally got it to work on my tablet! Apparently Kindle Fire doesn‘t work with everything. 2y
TheAromaofBooks @AmandaBlaze - I'm glad you got it to work!! I do as much as possible on my computer instead of on my phone or tablet, so I'm not always sure how things are going to work on other devices!! 2y
MatchlessMarie Just now catching up on my backlog of Scarathlon posts and This is really cool. I‘m surprised I‘ve never seen the regular Prompt Maze show up on my Litsy Feed. Will give it a shot and see what happens 🤪 2y
TheAromaofBooks @MatchlessMarie - It's been a fun challenge to set up, even if I have been stuck in the Q2 maze since April 😂 2y
MatchlessMarie Quick question. Sorry if you answered it already. But for #PromptMaze is it only meant to be used for completed books or do DNFs or parts of an anthology count (like a short story)? Thanks! 2y
TheAromaofBooks @MatchlessMarie - I am going to go with no on the DNFs, but yes on the short stories/parts of an anthology. But I'm kind of making this up as I go along, so if you've already used a prompt for a DNF, I wouldn't worry about going back and changing it, just going forward lol 2y
MatchlessMarie @TheAromaofBooks I hadn‘t, but I wasn‘t sure because I know bails count for BookSpin bingo but I have only been counting them for that board but not any other bingo games floating around 😆 2y
TheAromaofBooks @MatchlessMarie - Always worth checking, since sometimes the DNFs are more troublesome than the books I finish 😂 They definitely still count for the BookSpin stuff, but I think no for the PromptMaze makes sense. I'm glad you're having fun with the challenge!! 2y
BarkingMadRead This was so much fun!! I finished the maze today! 1y
TheAromaofBooks @BarkingMadRun - Yay!! I'm so glad you enjoyed it!! You are welcome to start over if you want to use it to score a few more points before the end of the month!! 1y

Hey #PromptMaze friends!! So you all have been lost the maze for a while and it's almost time for me to come up with a new one for Q3. Do you have any thoughts on how to improve the experience? Ideas for prompts (individually or in sets of three)? Is three the right number of prompts per square or should it be more or fewer? I'd love to hear some thoughts from all of you if you have any on how to make this challenge even better!! I tried to make⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) it harder to get stuck in one spot in Q2 but I still have a few times haha I'm open to any ideas, thoughts, or prompts, so let me know what you're thinking!!!

julieclair Three is the right number of prompts.👍 How about: Written before the year (or maybe decade)you were born. Written the year/decade you were born. Written after the year/decade you were born. 2y
julieclair Flower on the cover. Animal on the cover. Building on the cover. 2y

AllDebooks I think 3 prompts is perfect. Revisiting a favourite read from childhood, teen, adulthood 2y
AllDebooks Can't sleep, so a few more suggestions - 1) Anthologies - poetry, plays or essays; 2) Fiction or non-fic on - feminism, black lives matter or LGBQT+; 3) Historical read - fiction, non-fic period you know little about, non-fic favourite period; 4) Hobbies/interests - fiction or non-fiction 5) Classic poetry collection - Greek, Roman or Romantic 2y
AllDebooks 6) A source of inspiration - person, place or time period. I can't seem to switch my brain off, send help 🙃 2y
TheAromaofBooks @julieclair @AllDebooks - Great suggestions, thank you!!! 2y
julieclair Required read. Mood read. Buddy read. 2y
suvata Sorry, I totally forgot to keep up with this. I loved it and if you do another quarter I will happily join in again. 2y
janeycanuck Hahaha! I‘m not out of Q2 or Q1 yet! But I‘m still loving it. 3 prompts is the right number. Since I‘m still wandering, you may have already gone down this path but first in a series? Sequel? Different countries of where the author is from? Reread? And I think it‘s okay to reuse prompts, too - just shuffle them around! 2y
BennettBookworm I did two rounds on Q1 so now I‘m excited to check out Q2! 😂 2y
BennettBookworm The way I‘ve been doing the mazes is actually mapping out my path ahead of time, like planning all the books I have that fit the prompts, and then reading them out of order 🤷🏻‍♀️☺️ it prevents me from getting “stuck” I guess! 2y
TheAromaofBooks @BennettBookworm - I'm giving Q3 a little test drive this week but am hoping to have it up sometime next week, so I'll be sure to tag you!!! 2y
BennettBookworm I‘m so pumped! 2y
