This was outstanding 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻A true who-done-it! And the audio narration was brilliant. Plenty of twists and red herrings kept me on my toes. Even when I solved the crime, I was second guessing myself. So glad to have picked up this classic for #AAM @Soubhiville
Which book should I listen to next?? Should I stick with the Poirot series???

Librarybelle I had started to read her books in chronological order for #agathachristieclub and #agathachristieclubr2 and loved to see the progression in her writing style. But, if you want to continue for the #AAM prompt, I would strongly recommend my favorite, 3y
Cinfhen That‘s the one I just picked up from #Hoopla 💗Thanks, Jess @Librarybelle 3y
AmyG I am reading the same. Ha...I can‘t figure out who did it. Poirot is a genius! 3y

Cinfhen Hope you love it @AmyG I read a different book earlier in the year but I wasn‘t as smitten 3y
TheAromaofBooks I quite enjoy Christie's “spy thrillers“ which are a bit campier but still good fun - The Secret Adversary is one of my favorites, because I have a huge soft spot for Tommy & Tuppence!! 3y
Simona I like them all, but my favourites are those where Ariadne Oliver accompanies Hercule Poirot https://www.agathachristie.com/characters/ariadne-oliver#expl... 3y
Cinfhen Thanks so much for the suggestions @TheAromaofBooks @Simona I plan on reading some more throughout 2021 ‼️‼️‼️ 3y
KarenUK Who was your audio narrator? I love this one because of Hugh Fraser on my version. I love Hastings being the dumb sidekick to Poirot‘s genius! 3y
KarenUK Also recommend ‘ And then there were none‘ as a stand alone (super clever twist), or The Murder of Roger Ackroyd for a near perfect example of an unreliable narrator... 🔍💕 3y
Cinfhen My narrator was Charles Armstrong @KarenUK he did a brilliant job but I‘m happy to try both of your recommendations!!! Ohh, I did pick up this one and Hugh Fraser reads 3y

Starting my #AAM #DameAgatha @Soubhiville I‘m already quite charmed 🥰also this cover edition works for #Booked2021 #MustacheOnCover 🥸

Cinfhen I‘m really loving this book/audio @CoffeeNBooks ‼️🎧💕 3y
LeahBergen Is this your first Christie? ❤️ 3y
Cinfhen No @LeahBergen I tried another book earlier this year but it wasn‘t a favorite 3y
CoffeeNBooks @Cinfhen I've been reading some of it and listening to some of it, and I really like it so far, too! 3y

#Top20Series #20Series20Days - THREE:

I thought that I knew what needed to be known by a true Agatha Christie fan, but that is an incorrect assumption. I didn‘t know that her sixty-six detective novels could be divided into SIX series along with some stand-alone novels: Hercule Poirot, Miss Marple, Tommy and Tuppence, Superintendent Battle, Colonel Race and Harley Quin. Who are Harley Quin and Col. Race?👇🏽

Nute They must be characters from the books I read as a teen. I‘m slightly embarrassed!🥴

These are the editions that I‘m starting to collect now, but most of my reading experience is with the HarperCollins mass market editions of the 1990s (see inset photo).

Andrew65 A true classic! 4y
Ruthiella I love Christie...even though most are murder mysteries, I read (and re-read) her books when life becomes too much. ❤️ 4y

katy4peas I love her books! I‘m collecting those editions as well! 4y
tdrosebud Christie is on my top 20 list too and is one of my favorite authors. I think I have them all, many are also the Harper Collins of the 90s 4y
erzascarletbookgasm 🙌 Dame Agatha Christie ❤️ 4y
TheAromaofBooks Colonel Race isn't really a series so much as a character who pops up in several of Christie's novels (usually her spy ones). I think Harley Quin only appeared in short stories?? 4y
Nute @Andrew65 Definitely! 4y
Nute @Ruthiella So lovely when a book brings repeated comfort!💕 4y
Nute @katy4peas I‘ve seen several nice editions of her books. Sometimes it blows my mind that I really like those old mass market editions. I think that I like the font choice. 4y
Nute @tdrosebud I‘m always on the lookout for the HarperCollins mass market editions. I still like them so much! 4y
Nute @erzascarletbookgasm So what I have been doing is reading a book and then watching the BBC Adaptation for the television show starring David Suchet as Poirot or Joan Hickson as Miss Marple. It feels like such a treat for myself! 4y

1. I can always re-read The Mysterious Affair at Styles. It was my first Christie and a sentimental favourite for that reason.
2. A new-to-me mystery novelist on my TBR list is Nicolas Freeling. I have Gun Before Butter on deck.
3. For my “favourite“ mystery novel adaptation, I'll say Endeavour. It's an adaptation/spinoff that I actually like BETTER than the source material.

BookmarkTavern What excellent choices! Thanks for posting! 4y
rabbitprincess @ozma.of.oz Thank you for creating the meme! I‘m now going to actually start reading Gun Before Butter 😊 4y

A re-read for #agathachristieclubr2 , and I chose to listen to it this time. Hercule Poirot‘s first appearance in a Christie novel (and her first novel) involves red herrings and Christie‘s love of poison discussion. The audio was great to listen to, even if I swear the narrator mispronounced some of the French words. A good revisit to get back into the Christie readings!

This is the first Poirot mystery that Christie wrote, and except for the fact that there are no modern technology here like phones and mobile phones there‘s nothing that indicates that it was published in 1920.

Since I‘m easily fooled, I didn‘t know who the killer was until the big reveal.

Really looking forward to the discussion of this #agathachristieclubR2

Apologies for posting this late, but after Richard's death I needed a bit of a social media break. BUT if you're excited about reading Agatha Christie like I am, please join the #agathachristieclubR2 for this month's selection, The Mysterious Affair at Styles! I'll post discussion questions at the end of September.
