Stressed Out!
Stressed Out!: Solutions to Help Your Child Manage and Overcome Stress | James Forgan, Mary Anne Richey
4 posts | 1 to read
Proven strategies to help kids become stress free! Stressed Out! is an easy-to-read guide for parents to help their children understand stress and how to handle it. The book suggests stress management solutions that can be implemented, focusing on a variety of common stressful situations that are grouped according to three categories-school, family, or environmental.Inherent in each chapter is the underlying understanding that stress in children is very individual and solutions need to be individualized to fit the circumstances and personality of each child.

In March 5th I made this TikTok where I challenged myself to let this filter decide how many books I‘m gonna read this month.
It‘s the 23rd, and I‘m not even halfway through my 3rd book 😀 yay
Right now me and @WJCintron are in the process of moving so I‘ll barely have time to read or even finish Heroine. Should I still try to hit this 29 book goal next month?
How are y‘all doing today? My answer is in the tagged book 🥰

jeannasser Also I‘m gonna try my best to stay active on here and my booktok (@jeansbooks) but my posts on here are gonna be limited to book recs, raves and rants, tags, and bookish memes rather than my usual reading updates and reviews 😔 this is just until I‘m completely done with moving 🥰 I love you all 2y
WJCintron Try it next month. I think you can do it! And if you don't accomplish it, it's okay! 😊😘 2y

Hey all, just wanted to update you on what's been happening with me lately.
Since my visit to my family in WI things have been stressful. I hurt my back while I was there and I'm doing a lot better, but still not at 100%. Then there was all the winter weather that hit the south while we were gone. We had a ton of debris and are still working to clean it up. Also since the power was out for 4 days with no one home, we had to completely (cont)

Catsandbooks empty the fridge (😭 farewell stocked freezer). (Cont) (edited) 3y
Catsandbooks I also recently took a food sensitivities test due to suffering with digestive issues for the past 5 years. I got my results back and am now doing an elimination diet and then will reintroduce the high reactivity foods back in after to test my symptoms. Two of the items are eggs and gluten. If you have any tips or resources for being gluten free, they would be much appreciated, as this is a big change for me. (Cont) (edited) 3y
Catsandbooks Lastly, and most importantly, there's my kitty Link (above) who, during our trip, injured his paw. It was just a little cut to his pad, no big deal. Well it now has escalated and I am very worried about him. He's on his second round on antibiotics for an infection, has pain meds, and as you can see is in a cone. His pad is falling apart and has the look and feel of raw ground meat. I am at a loss as to how this happened. (Cont) (edited) 3y

Catsandbooks We've been trying anything and everything to keep it cleaned and cared for. I have been giving him lots of cuddles and hope this will resolve soon. 😭🤞🏼 (Cont) (edited) 3y
Catsandbooks I haven't been doing much reading as I would like during this time. (I promise I'll get LMPBC done) Thanks for being patient with me and please send good luck, prayers, good vibes, etc. my way, as I really could use them right now! ❤️ (edited) 3y
wanderinglynn Sending {hugs} and positive energy. 💚 3y
Texreader Oh my dear friend, I‘m so sorry and thank you for the update. Praying for you and your fur baby! 🙏🏻😘 3y
Megabooks Well, I can‘t help you with the paw without seeing it (I‘m a vet), but I can tell you that in a place like that, topical care is just as important as systemic antibiotics. Have they tried giving you a broad spectrum ointment like mupirocin? I am gluten-free (celiac) with many food allergies that have come and gone over the years. The first few weeks - try not to eat out. Even gluten-friendly menus can be cross contaminated easily. ⬇️ (edited) 3y
Megabooks Also scrupulously check grocery items and try only to buy things labeled gf, at least for the first couple of weeks. I shop at Kroger and find it easier to do curbside through their app where you can search things like gluten-free and get options. Also when you go into the item‘s page, it will have a gf seal or give major allergens and you can look for wheat (depending on how strict you are). This may be easier until you find some favorite ⬇️ 3y
Megabooks Items to buy regularly. Eating gf can be expensive, so you may have to be creative and eat foods you haven‘t tried before, but that can be a fun adventure though! Best of luck! Email me at megabooksreads at gmail dot com if I could help in any way! (edited) 3y
Megabooks Also I‘m sorry you‘re going through all this. It‘s a heck of a lot to deal with. 💜💜 3y
SamAnne That‘s a lot to deal with. At least the gluten free options have tremendously expanded. And hope that cute kitty get better.... 3y
julesG Sending hugs and positive energy. I guess @Megabooks has the inside info on vet things and GF. You can always count on your Litsy Family. When my cat had an infection after spaying/neutering (?) the vet gave us medical manuka honey to use topically on the infected wound. Might be worth a try. 3y
SeaToSkyes Hoping things start getting better for you soon 💕💕 3y
Butterfinger I'm so sorry you are going through this. Praying. 3y
Crazeedi So much to deal with! We almost lost a freezer of food once, so I know how you must feel. And your sweet kitty I'm so sorry. Sending you hugs and a prayer that things get better for you every day 3y
Laughterhp So sorry you are dealing with all of this. Sending positive thoughts. I can only help with the gluten free thing. Just check labels. My grocery store is really good at marking things gluten free throughout the store. You should check your spices, they are probably not gluten free. I use google a lot to search if things are GF and sometimes it helps. I use an app called Find Me Gluten Free for dining out. 3y
Laughterhp It‘ll also help knowing the different terms for gluten, wheat, barley etc. Idk if you drink, but here‘s a helpful link I just have saved. https://urbantastebud.com/gluten-free-alcohol-list/ and if you bake, there are some good box mixes or buy 1 for 1 flour, so you don‘t have to use xantham gum. It‘s definitely more expensive to be GF. But I‘ve been doing it for 4 years now so definitely reach out if you have questions. 3y
Chrissyreadit I‘m so sorry all this is happening! One thing that I find helpful is just looking at all the Whole Foods options- primarily plant based, and then if you eat meat...I‘m happy to talk food with you. I love soups too. I hope it helps you feel a lot better! I also hope your fur baby gets better. I love menuka honey but have not used it on pets- only human injuries. Sending you hugs ❤️❤️❤️❤️ 3y
Catsandbooks @wanderinglynn @Texreader @SamAnne @SeaToSkyes @Butterfinger @Crazeedi Thank you all so much for your love and kind words! 💕 3y
Catsandbooks @julesG I will definitely check out the manuka honey! Thank you! 3y
Catsandbooks @Chrissyreadit Yes, eating lots of fruits and veggies right now! I do eat meat, though I was vegetarian at one point in my life lol. So I am familiar with those options too! Thank you!! 💕 3y
Catsandbooks @Laughterhp Thank you! Yeah I'm checking labels like crazy! It's so frustrating when you think oh this food shouldn't have gluten in it and then you look at the label and there's wheat or rye, or whatever... It's like why?? 😡🤪 I have bought I few different flour mixes but haven't tried them yet. Thank you for all the suggestions! 💕 3y
Catsandbooks @Megabooks My vet has not given me a topical ointment. I wash his paw twice a day with an oatmeal soap made for pets. I also have tried an Epsom salt soak on his paw a few times. And I've been using a product called PawShield+ after I clean it. He goes back to the vet again on Monday to have it checked again. Today is honestly the best it's looked in over a week. It's not as red as it was, but it still bleeds. 3y
Catsandbooks @Megabooks As for GF, luckily we don't eat out a lot so that's not much of a change. I also shop at Kroger and Walmart. This test was food sensitivities, so I don't have to be super strict since I'm not actually allergic to it. But it has been tricky finding substitutes to things. I'll probably email you later lol. Thank you for all your help!! 💕💕 3y
Laughterhp Yes, it‘s definitely crazy what has gluten! and I‘m learning that some things say gluten free but actually still have gluten in them. For example, gluten free Oreos. They still use oat flour 🙄. Good luck! It‘s definitely tough to start with and find what you like. 3y
Catsandbooks @Megabooks @Laughterhp @Chrissyreadit Thank you for all help! If you have any GF recipes, products or whatnot you'd like to share I'd really appreciate it! You can text me at 2629603899 or my email is Leila.whelan18 AT gmail.com 3y
Catsandbooks @wanderinglynn @Texreader @Megabooks @SamAnne @julesG @SeaToSkyes @Butterfinger @Crazeedi @Laughterhp @Chrissyreadit Just giving an update: Link is doing better and I feel like we're finally making progress on his paw. He is on, what will hopefully be his last round of antibiotics. 🤞🏼 I'm doing well and have been doing lots of research on foods and reading allll the labels lol. Thanks for all your tips and love! 💕 3y
Texreader @Catsandbooks So glad for the update and that it‘s good news. Still hoping for the best for you and your little kitty 3y
Chrissyreadit 💕❤️💕❤️💕❤️ 3y

IamIamIam

Having a day, stress circling my social media accounts, feeling crazy inadequate, not able to read anything, frozen with my phone in my hand... not looking for sympathy, just a safe place to put those things into words

ravenlee I hope you can find something to refocus your energy. Maybe it‘s a good day to unplug and get outside? Sending hugs 💓 4y
IamIamIam @ravenlee Definitely a great idea. Nobody has any activities today so maybe after school, I'll check out for a bit. I did get some decent news when I expected bad news so that's a bright spot! Thank you! 🤗💜 4y
ravenlee I‘m so glad your news was better than expected (that has definitely NOT been the theme of this year!). Good luck! 4y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I hope today is a little better than yesterday. 💛 4y
IamIamIam @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Thank you!!! 🤗 So far, it's definitely a lot better. I decided to check out and crochet this morning so that helped quite a bit! 💜💜 4y
