Country Music, U.S.A.
Country Music, U.S.A. | Bill C. Malone, Jocelyn R. Neal
1 post
Since its first publication in 1968, Bill C. Malone’s Country Music, U.S.A. has won universal acclaim as the definitive history of American country music. Starting with the music’s folk roots in the rural South, it traces country music from the early days of radio through the first decade of the twenty-first century. This third revised edition includes an extensive new chapter in which new coauthor Jocelyn R. Neal tracks developments in country music in the post-9/11 world, exploring the relationship between the current scene and the traditions from which the music emerged.

Tonight I think we'll be re-watching some of Ken Burns's Country Music documentary. Mr. Burns was helped greatly with his research by my friend Bill Malone's book (tagged). It's the first & most comprehensive book on the topic. I recommend the book or the documentary. If you watch the film keep an eye out for Bill Malone who is featured throughout & is one of the nicest persons ever! 😊

DrexEdit Those interested in country music, especially roots music, can listen to Bill every Wednesday morning on local radio WORT-FM. https://www.wortfm.org/ Bill's show is called Back to the Country. 5y
