One of the more realistic Adams paintings. This one is for one of Christie's more deservedly famous, & controversial, books "The Murder of Roger Ackroyd."

Sace Wow! 4y
vivastory @RestlessFickleBookHoarder I'm going to post more Adams cover paintings before the end of the month. Quite a few of them look like psychedelic horror books. 4y
Sace Awesome! I love when people post art! 4y

Scochrane26 Why is that one controversial? @vivastory 4y
vivastory @Scochrane26 Have you read it? I don't want to spoil it 4y
Scochrane26 @vivastory no, I haven‘t gotten to it. Just started reading Christie a couple of yrs ago but haven‘t read many. Guess I‘ll check that one out soon. 4y
vivastory @Scochrane26 It's one of my favorites, but I definitely recommend not reading about it before you read it 4y
ValerieAndBooks Was his art used to illustrate Christie book covers? I have almost all of her mysteries in PB, but they were read/collected back in the 1980s (with quite a few older because they were used at the time). 4y
vivastory @ValerieAndBooks Yep. He was first commissioned to do the cover for A Murder is Announced. Christie's publisher liked the cover he did for a Fowles book. They liked the cover he did so much that he started designing the Christie paperbacks for 20 years. A lot of the US editions were more straightforward & realistic depictions, but the UK covers are Daliesque. I recommend 4y
ValerieAndBooks His style looks somewhat familiar. I‘ll have to look at my Christie covers! 4y
