Skip-Beat!, Vol. 43
Skip-Beat!, Vol. 43 | Yoshiki Nakamura
3 posts | 3 read
When Kyoko's heart is broken, she decides that revenge is a dish best served in the spotlight! Kyoko Mogami followed her true love Sho to Tokyo to support him while he made it big as an idol. But he's casting her out now that he's famous! Kyoko won't suffer in silence--she's going to get her sweet revenge by beating Sho in show biz! Kyoko's intense audition finally wins over the producer and secures her role of Momiji, but she's hardly in the mood to celebrate. Moko hasn't been cast as Chidori, and Kyoko's cherished dreams of playing opposite her BFF have been dashed. Her internal conflict will have to wait though, because her opponent in the Momiji trials has another nasty trick up her sleeve. Will Kimi's devious scheming cost Kyoko more than just a coveted role?!

My uncle keeps bringing bread over. Can‘t let it go to waste. I had another big chunk with my morning tea and the penultimate volume in my SKIP BEAT! reread.

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I LOVE bread 🥖😋 it doesn‘t love me anymore!!! 3y
xicanti @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I‘m not as bread-obsessed as some, but I do like homemade stuff. My uncle‘s spent the last few months perfecting his technique! 3y
wanderinglynn Homemade bread is the best! 😋 3y

Breakfast was chard tart and SKIP BEAT!. I binged two and a half volumes before bed last night because I just couldn‘t put it down. It‘s my very favourite series, and this time I decided to revisit only the four most recent volumes before I dive into the just-released Vol 44. Now I‘m kinda wishing I‘d done a full-series reread, like last year.

Anyways: I finished Vol 43 while I ate. I‘ll try to save Vol 44 for lunch, but I might fail.

#weeklyforecast time! Next week I hope to:

• finish rereading THE WAY OF KINGS
• clear at least one short book from La TBR. Probably NO SUCH THING by A.M. Arthur
• read the latest volume of SKIP BEAT!
• get two comics off my library stack
• reread THE DREAM THIEVES
• reread HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE on audio
• read one poetry collection
• start one novel from my library stack. Probably UNTOUCHABLE by Talia Hibbert

Sace I've heard Skip Beat is really good, but I keep avoiding it because there are so many volumes. Does the story stay engaging even with 43 volumes? Does it start to feel like filler? 4y
xicanti @Sace it‘s my very favourite! I love it just as much now as I did in the beginning. The pace HAS slowed down compared to the early volumes, but there‘s so much great stuff happening, and so many telling moments between the characters, that I can‘t even mind. I buy each new volume on release day, and I don‘t do that with anything else. 4y
Sace That's high praise! I might pick up the first three volumes and see what happens (I give manga three volumes before I make a final decision.) 4y
