A Highlander in a Pickup
A Highlander in a Pickup: A Highland, Georgia Novel | Laura Trentham
3 posts | 4 read | 1 to read
When a gorgeous new manin a kiltcomes to town, life in Highland, Georgia will never be the same... Iain Connors is the poster boy for the strong and silent type. Growing up a loner at Cairndow Castle in Scotland with only the cliffs and moors for company, its understood Iain will assume the mantle of Cairndow groundskeeper when his father is ready to relinquish it. But his stint in Her Majestys Armed Forces has opened up a whole new worldand now, rather than settle down, he accepts an invitation to travel to the States to take charge of the Highland Games. After all, hes led men into battle, how hard can planning a party be? Anna Maitland is ready to step up for her best friend Isabel Blackmoor, who cant run the Games in their hometown this year. Surely Anna, a dance instructor with boundless energy, spirit, and charm, is up for the challenge? What she doesnt anticipate is a man in a kilt who turns up claiming hes the one in charge. Whats worse about this Iain? Hes so infuriatingly handsome that she cant help but fantasize about him whispering sweet-nothings in her ear in his rumbly, sexy brogue. . . Trentham never misses the mark when she takes aim at the heart.Night Owl Reviews

Pickpick

Another fun romp from Trentham. Second in series centered around a small town in Georgia and their yearly Scottish festival.

I especially loved the Highlander in the Pickup (or Ian), a big, good-hearted bloke who travels from Scotland to assist Anna, the town‘s dance instructor, in organizing the festivities. Both characters had self-confidence issues to overcome and similar abandonment stories from their childhoods. ⬇️⬇️

robinb Trentham writes funny, sexy books featuring engaging characters working through life‘s curves.

Looking forward to the third installment! 4/5⭐️ #NetGalley @StMartinsPress @CoverToCoverGirl

Excited to read this second in series (enjoyed the first!). I‘ve read several by this author, and they‘ve been consistently good. So far, it‘s living up to its predecessors. 😊👍 Out 2/25

CoverToCoverGirl I love the title! Lol does he have kilt?! Lol 4y
robinb @CoverToCoverGirl The first one had an even better title! 🤣🤣 And yes, he wears one almost all the time (and usually without a shirt as it‘s Georgia in the summertime)! 👍🔥🔥🔥😉😉 (edited) 4y

I really enjoyed the setting of this book, a quaint Georgia mountain town steeped in Scottish tradition seems idyllic. I didn't like the characters as much, their insecurities were overpowering & at war with how they were otherwise written. Also the parts that were supposed to add drama to the story, such as interactions with the main antagonist, were really flat & so easily & quickly resolved that I don't know why the author bothered.
