Reading Together: Everything You Need to Know to Raise a Child Who Loves to Read | Diane W. Frankenstein
2 posts
A dynamic guide to more than 100 books that will get kids talking and reading more. How do children become good readers? In Reading Together, educational consultant Diane W. Frankenstein shares the secret: guiding children to find an appropriate book and talking with them about the story helps them connect with what they read. This engaging guide shares advice for parents, teachers, librarians, and caregivers on how to help children find what to read, and then through conversation, how to find meaning and pleasure in their reading. With more than 100 great book recommendations for kids from Pre-K through grade six, as well as related conversation starters, Reading Together offers a winning equation to turn children into lifelong readers. Some of the award-winning books discussed include Betty G. Birney?s World According to Humphrey, Gennifer Choldenko?s Notes from a Liar and Her Dog, and David Shannon?s Bad Case of Stripes.

So I have decided to join in with this reading challenge in 2020. Nothing too stressful! This is hosted by @MrBook and all you do is read a book from each category each month and post about it on the 29th of the month. MrBook also posts some examples to help you out! Easy peasy! What fun!!!!

I have a terrible time with challenges, but for 2020 this looks like a fun one. Hosted by @MrBook you read a book from each category each month and post about it on the 29th of the month. Be sure to use the hashtag #ReadWithMrBook. Sounds like a fun one!-

ljuliel I‘m not good at challenges either but this was only a book a month and the categories are pretty wide open, so we don‘t have to read a specific book. It might be easier than most of the others. 😊 4y
Bklover @ljuliel That‘s what I was thinking. I‘ve signed up for #Booked2020 but last year only made it through spring. Hoping to do better this year. Don‘t hold your breath😉 4y
JazzFeathers I'm terrible with challenges too, but l've already taken up two for 2020, and am adding this too! Sounds like fun. 4y

ljuliel @Bklover Just do what you‘re comfortable with . If it‘s too much , nobody will yell at you. 😁. I won‘t guarantee I‘ll stick it out either. The older I get, the more I like to have no schedule and do whatever I want whenever I want. I sound like a little kid, but I think when you get older, you need to give yourself permission to do what you want. @JazzFeathers I hope you enjoy your challenges and accomplish your goals 😊 4y
Sward7 I never start challenges because I worry I can‘t finish. But thus one look like a great one to start with. 4y
MrBook @Bklover Thank you for sharing ☺️🤗🤗🤗! I thought something fun and easy would help. 😌 4y
Bklover @MrBook It looks great! Looking forward to it. Plus it‘s hosted by a favorite Litten. 🧡 4y
