pickI was pulled in from the start because Ben‘s grief radiated from the pages. Even though his fiancée was not an actual character in this story, she was vividly a part of the plot through Ben‘s memories and his speculations of how, if she were alive, she would react to the situation he was in. Once Ben decided to try alternative means to alleviate his pain the story delved into the realm of science fiction.
