The Somerset Girls
The Somerset Girls: A Novel | Lori Foster
6 posts | 5 read | 2 to read
“Foster convincingly brings her characters to life against the idyllic backdrop of Kentucky farmland. This down-to-earth romance will especially appeal to animal lovers.”—Publishers Weekly on The Somerset Girls No one knows you quite like a sister… Summer in Sunset, Kentucky, means long, hot days—and sometimes surprising new beginnings. Through it all, the ties of sisterhood will be there, guiding Autumn and Ember to the lives, and loves, they need… When they’re running the animal-rescue farm they inherited from their grandparents, Autumn and Ember Somerset are perfectly in sync. At all other times, not so much. Dependable Autumn would rather curl up with a good book than paint the town red with Ember. After the disaster that was Autumn’s last relationship, it’s pure self-protection. But when her high school crush comes back to town with his adorable young daughter, igniting memories best left forgotten, there’s only one person Autumn can turn to… Beneath Ember’s free-spirited facade is a layer of deep hurt. She’ll gladly nudge Autumn toward a second chance. But risk her own heart? Not likely. The closer Autumn gets to her own happily-ever-after, the more Ember wonders what she might be missing—and if it isn’t her time to be bold, too.

I needed something light. This was perfect. Sisterhood, romance, and a cute kid, plus animal rescue, everything I needed in the moment.

THE SOMERSET GIRLS- A heartwarming, gripping story, with an unforgettable cast of characters. I was totally seduced by this book. It is beautifully written, there's just so much to this story. I was glued to it. I was emotional through it. I loved it!

I waited to read this book because I judged the cover, but it‘s definitely romance, but with a great sister relationship as a big part of the story.

Autumn is the bigger focus of this book and I really enjoyed her and Tash‘s romance. He‘s a single dad trying to get it right and he‘s also the guy Autumn has crushed on for years.

I wish Ember and Mike‘s story was more developed because I really liked them and found them to be interesting.

Sisters Autumn and Ember do almost everything together. They work together and they also run an animal rescue on their large farm, which was inherited from their grandparents. Each sister has a swoony and low-angst romance with respectful love interests, but I think the overall story is women‘s fiction. All of the rescue animals and 7-yr-old Sadie (Autumn‘s love interest‘s daughter) made me smile throughout the story. I really loved this one!
