Have you ever tried a food you read in a book (cookbooks excluded, I hope you try that food! Lol)?

When I read this book Walter was ALWAYS eating Necco Waffers and I had no idea what they were. Randomly, I found some today & decided to try them. And they aren't half bad! Walter's favorite were the purple, which I discovered were black licorice flavored! Yum! My fave too!

So what book food have you tried?!?!?

ReadingEnvy Oh man I always look up recipes and make stuff sometimes. I just read a book from Poland and now hope to make.mushroom sandwiches, paprikash spread, kugel-mogel, and if I had a fryer these pastries translated as angel wings. 7y

Kenyazero It's delightful that you tried necco wafers after reading this book! My husband and I tried takis (if you're not familiar, they're a type of chip) after reading Cemetery Boys because one of the characters loves them and now so do we. I love finding food in books! 2y

Finished it! Yes!

Unfortunately it wasn't very gripping. It was more of a catch the killer deal than getting to know the characters or cortexiphan. But I liked the little details the best...the things that really tie it to the show such as the images Walter sees while tripping or unexpected characters. last 50 pages were best.

Nothing against the writing, but not my preferred genre. Also there were some minor mistakes editors should have fixed.

Mommy needs a time out!

One kid has been all over me, literally hanging off the boob almost all day (and last night). Other kid will not listen to a thing I say which had led to tears from both of us. I am so done I even kicked my cat out of the room. I cannot handle being touched or noise anymore.

Being an introvert and a parent is one of my biggest challenges. They don't work well together...

More catch-the-killer & less scifi/fringe feel. (Not enough drug use for something with Walter in it...yet!). ? I'm only halfway through so it's picking up. There have been some typos that annoy me though that an editor should have caught. ? 8y

So far the book has me feeling kinda meh. I'm not a fan of crime-catch-the-killer novels, which is basically what it is so far. BUT Walter & Bell are about to bring out the universe ripping drugs, so I'm hoping it's about to get good! 😜
