This is a pretty great adventure. I love the illustrations, and the city that emerged from the lake is beautiful. This story will appeal to any adventurous kid, or the adventurous kid in your heart. I was a little let down when some things didn't get a more fleshed out explanation in the end. #Comic #Adventure #GirlExplorer

A fine way to start my birthday: by having the time to read this in one sitting! (The day ended with a sick toddler who puked on me twice, but I‘m focusing on the positives. 🤪) This was super unique! Iris was an entitled brat until she learned an important lesson in friendship, but the story of the town was fascinating! I was left satisfied, but with a whole host of questions!

Someday I will read a book that takes archaeology seriously, that doesn‘t write about it as nothing more than treasure hunting & a path towards being rich & famous but today is not that day & this is not that book. But that being said, this is a fun, beautifully illustrated MG graphic novel about friendship, adventure, history, growing up, & home. I‘m sure this will be a hit with young readers—it is an engaging story. On sale 9/7/21.
