I‘ve never been a fan of the “Nothing in life is free” dog training philosophy, so the first part of this book gave me more perspective on why this approach should be limited. I‘m an Atheist, but I truly appreciated how Sdao integrated her religious beliefs into her dog training. She really makes the reader consider why they‘re training the way they do, and if there are better options.

Lizzie demonstrates how she‘s an optimistic gambler🐶

Cinfhen OMG!!! Your sweet pup looks EXACTLY like my daughter‘s sweet pup. I swear, they must be siblings!!! 2y
DogMomIrene @Cinfhen 🙌🏼 We‘ve seen several look alikes when we travel. And we‘re always pointing, probably looking like total goofballs🤣 2y
Cinfhen Did u get Lizzie from a breeder?? 2y

Cinfhen It‘s freaking me out!!! 2y
Cinfhen She‘s adorable and I bet VERY SMART 2y
DogMomIrene @Cinfhen Yes on breeder. Crawford Doodles in Queen Creek AZ, which is in the Phoenix area. 2y
DogMomIrene @Cinfhen And Lizzie‘s mom was Lucy, who the Crawfords got from Pine Lodge Labradoodles, a breeder somewhere in Oregon, so that‘s another point of possible crossover 2y
DogMomIrene @Cinfhen Thank you! She is VERY SMART, so she‘s fun to train, especially trick training. She is pretty scared of other dogs so I‘m usually spending time on relaxation protocols and some counter conditioning 2y
Cinfhen Hmmm, my daughter‘s pup came from a breeder in Kentucky. I‘ll have to investigate Herzl‘s lineage. No matter, Lizzie is super cute😁 2y
Cinfhen @Megabooks Look…I just met Herzy‘s doppelgänger 2y
DogMomIrene @Cinfhen please do! When I thought about it, I remembered how Lucy was one of the dogs the Crawfords brought in for genetic variety, and I think Pine Lodge has helped other breeders too, so maybe there is a connection there. Our guy Bernie was in a therapy dog class with another Crawford Doodle, but that was when we were still in Tucson, so not super shocking, but fun. 2y
Megabooks @Cinfhen she is!! Both are so cute!! 2y
CampbellTaraL Oooh, sounds like a perfect balm to the Cesar Milan aggression/abuse style that was so rampant 10+ years ago. If you haven't already read it, the tagged book shows the science behind the unique love dogs hold for humans. Powerful stuff. 2y
DogMomIrene @CampbellTaraL Absolutely! This book is the antithesis of the force side of dog training. Sadly, those trainers still exist in abundance. Dog is Love is on my TBR, but now I‘ll be adding to February‘s #bookspinbingo So many dog books I want to read! 2y
DogMomIrene @Megabooks I just scrolled your feed, just saw Molly, who is adorable, but please post a picture of Herzl 🐶❤️ 2y

I am loving Kathy Sdao‘s thoughts on dog training. Her dissection of the “Nothing in life is free” training advice spoke volumes to me. I‘m getting ready to sit down and read more about how she trains her dogs and advises her clients to train. She‘s all about building communication and better relationships.

Lizzie‘s *very* excited that I‘m finally reading this book. She‘s crossing her paws that I‘ll be even more liberal with the snacks🤣
