I‘m a long-time Tuchman fan and so I jumped on this little volume at a local bookstore. It contains a lot of notes that she used for her book on General Stilwell as well as an essay that explores the hypothetical if Mao had visited FDR in 1945 (as he evidently tried to do). It is vintage Tuchman. Observe: “[H]istory is not law-abiding or orderly and will often respond to a breeze as carelessly as a leaf upon a lake”.
