Circling Back to You | Julie Tieu
6 posts | 6 read | 2 to read
Julie Tieu, an exciting new and diverse voice in contemporary romance, returns with a hilarious and sexy new novel about colleagues who decide to take their relationship outside the office. Cadence Lim has transformed from behind-the-scenes number cruncher to an integral part of the sales team at Prism Realty, but despite moving up the corporate ladder, her complicated relationship with her estranged elderly father weighs heavily and she can't seem to shake the desire for a new beginning. At least Cadence can always lean on her favorite co-worker and co-conspirator, Matt Escanilla. A top broker with an unsuccessful love life, the forever single Matt is constantly being nagged by his loving Filipino family to settle down. Their friendship takes a turn when a business trip lands them both in their hometown and Matt enlists Cadence as a pretend girlfriend for a family gathering. The new after-hours setting forces them to see each other in a new light, and the two friends' previously buried feelings rise quickly to the surface. When competing promotions threaten to separate Cadence and Matt, these office besties must work together to round up their ambitions and families to pursue their overdue romance.

🤷🏻‍♀️ meh, it was fine. Nothing too bad, nothing that kept me gripped or falling all over the place bc of the chemistry. It was just ok

Mixed feelings about this book; the story was good, but our heroine was annoying. Having grown up similar to here, in a town close by, I understand where she‘s coming from, but she was still annoying and grated on my nerves. The books also dragged on a bit for me.

August 15, 2022 Im done with the book. BUT i gotta say that I kind of knew what the ending was going to be like just by reading the title of the book. Some books tend to tell you what the ending will be like and some don't. I felt as though the author gave the ending away. So for that reason, 4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

August 12, 2022 Already on page 184? Yes I am!!! This book is quite short but filled with a lot of romantic banter between Matt and Cadence. Initially, Cadence just sees Matt as a friend and colleague. He sees her as a best friend and possibly girlfriend. There is already some misunderstanding by Matt but Cadence seems to go along with it and hints at liking Matt... Almost done and will give a review

Just finished this eARC and it was a fun workplace romance. The characters had good chemistry and there were some genuinely funny moments. It did drag a bit in the middle, but I liked that the characters each had their own flaws and issues to work through before they could make things work together. Wasn't the best I've ever read, but it was fun.
