When he lost his sight at 35, Hugues de Montalembert had to totally rethink his life, since his occupation as a painter and filmmaker was "based on seeing." In this book, he shows his resilience through small instants of his life. It isn't an exhaustive account of his recovery, it's more memories, anecdotes, thoughts. I found the writing beautiful, poetic even, while the content was sometimes philosophical.
