Pilates Without Tears
Pilates Without Tears: The 5-step No Pain, No Strain Strategy to Move and Feel Great | Jeannie Di Bon
1 post | 1 read
Foreword by New York Times Best Selling AuthorThere are many exercise books on the market today and we are well informed on the need and benefits to move and exercise more. This first book by Jeannie, Pilates Without Tears, came to my attention for a number of reasons. First the title caught my eye: from what I know of Pilates, this title really stood out and I was curious to learn what it meant. I have found out that this book is not the usual, traditional exercise manual - it is a lifestyle game changer.

Mehso-so

I honestly didn't know how to rate this book because it is both good and bad at the same time. How you react to it is going to be dictated by your experience with Pilates

If you have a good Pilates teacher with anatomical and biomechanical knowledge who teaches in a holistic way (understanding the body is a cohesive whole) then this book is a no, duh kind of book

If you have a less knowledgeable Pilates teacher then this may be a revelation ⬇️

PuddleJumper There were some really good messages in the book including that the body isn't static, there are no right and wrong movements (outside of causing pain) and the importance of breathing 2y
PuddleJumper I'm sad and conflicted that this has been seen as a revolutionary approach to Pilates because it really isn't but the industry has become a place that churns out instructors who can instruct exercises but cannot teach them because they do not understand them 2y
PuddleJumper Also, the website no longer exists. All the way through the book she refers to a website with free resources ... Yeah, that's gone but they haven't edited the book 2y
