To her followers, she advocates for an authentic and transparent life. In reality, she's living a perfect lie. Wellness influencer Ava Maloney's enormous success is based on total transparency, extolling the well-documented virtues of her full, balanced life. But the truth is, Ava's social media platform is built on a lie. And her double life is beginning to take its toll. Escaping Los Angeles for a luxury wellness retreat on Martha's Vineyard, Ava believes she can get everything back on track. No fans will be the wiser to the real reason for her visit. With the help of the other guests, staff, and a supportive local, Ava begins regaining control of her body, her mind, and her life. Except someone is onto her, threatening to expose the secret she's hidden for so long. Ava was prepared to face her demons, but not publicly. Not yet. The fallout might also force Ava to finally reconcile who she's been pretending to be with who she actually is--a woman discovering the real meaning of a full and balanced life.

Mehso-so

This audible daily deal was fine. I enjoyed Brittany Pressley‘s narration, but the same plots points were just rehashed too often. STRONG CW for bulimia and alcohol abuse.

Ava is a wellness Instagram influencer. Her brand is built on getting over bulimia and sharing healthy meal ideas, but her illness is still quite active. One night she hits rock bottom and applies to a retreat in Martha‘s Vineyard, but someone is threatening to out her secret.

Cinfhen Oh good. I almost bought this one but passed - glad I did 😘 2y

Pickpick

TW I almost quit this book because earring disorders aren‘t my thing. But I kept reading for two reasons: there was just enough mystery to keep me interested (re: social media troll) and because the main character did a bunch of therapy to learn what her triggers were & what memories planted the seeds that led to her disease. I hope I can use this info to not pass body/food insecurities on to my daughter.

Started this today and I'm pleasantly surprised. I love this narrator and I like stories about real social issues. Also, it's part thriller with mystery and intrigue to boot! Looking forward to figuring it out!
