The Flames
The Flames: This is the story of four muses. Let them speak. | Sophie Haydock
3 posts | 2 read | 3 to read
'MAGNIFICENT. Feels destined to be a classic...I loved it and REFUSE to accept it is a debut. It's simply too good' KATIE LOWE, author of THE FURIES 'Completely convincing and utterly compelling, THE FLAMES gives vivid voice to four muses who refuse to be remembered as just that' KIRAN MILLWOOD HARGRAVE, author of THE MERCIES This is the story of four muses...Women whose bodies were shown in intimate detail, depicted by the charming yet controversial artist Egon Schiele. But who were they? ADELE: his passionate and fierce admirer. GERTRUDE: his spirited and possessive sister. VALLY: his independent and proud model. EDITH: Adele's quiet and conventional sister. Or was she? The Flames reimagines the intertwining lives of these women: four wild, blazing hearts, longing to be known. In an elegant bohemian city like 1900s Vienna, everything seems possible. But just as a flame has the power to mesmerize, it can also destroy everything in its path ... _______________________________ 'A reimaging of the lives of artist Egon Schiele's four female 'muses' it is both fascinating and compelling. I loved all four women...and the final scenes with Egon himself were truly extraordinary.' Elodie Harper, author of The Wolf Den 'Thought provoking and illuminating - I so enjoyed discovering the world and the women behind works of art I adore' Kate Sawyer, author of The Stranding The four women who loved Schiele come back to life, combining an exquisite sense of place and era with a passion and sensuality that transcend time altogether.' Isabel Costello, author of Scent 'I knew nothing of Egon Schiele. I'm now obsessed, and heartbroken for all four women. An unforgettable book about wanting more for ourselves than we are told we are allowed.', Ericka Waller, author of Dog Days

One of my ARC's arrived. Unfortunately, my mom's dog got to the package first. While the book itself doesn't look to bad in this pic, he managed to shred quite a lot of the pages while doing his thing 🤦🏽‍♀️

He's lucky he's cute!!😩 (Side note: I'm using my mom's address for packages until my house is done bc my current apartment gets a ton of foot traffic and things go missing)

TheBookgeekFrau That's a huge bummer 😫 1y

Cheers to another Goodreads win! Whoop! At the risk of sounding cocky, I've started hearing DJ Khaled in my head when I see the emails 😂

TracyReadsBooks Last year I had a couple of months where I won something like 8 books in Goodreads giveaways—including two in one night—but nothing recently. My luck seems to have run out…🤷‍♀️ 1y
swishandflick @JenReadsAlot @ShyBookOwl Honestly I just habitually enter a ton of giveaways while listening to podcasts or watching TV, and check it often for new stuff since some of the giveaways have shorter windows than others. I don't enter for books I know I absolutely wouldn't read, but pretty much anything else is fair game. Haha 1y
swishandflick @TracyReadsBooks I'm sure my day will come! For now just riding the wave 😆 1y
