Theres only one person whos never bought her actthe only man who makes her heart race: Tristan Montgomery, one of her familys greatest rivals. ONE SCANDALOUS BARGAIN Wickedly proper architect Tristan needs a respectable woman to wed, but hes never stopped wanting bold, red-headed Carys. When she mockingly challenges him to show her what shes missing by not getting married, Tristan shocks them both by accepting her indecent proposal: one week of clandestine meetings, after which theyll go their separate ways. Publishing on Tuesday, this is the 2nd book in Bateman‘s Ruthless Rivals series. I liked it even more than the first. It‘s well-written with no weird euphemisms, an adventurous storyline, and a thoroughly entertaining couple. Bateman excels at writing sleazy, smarmy villains who make my skin crawl. Like in all good romance novels, good triumphs over evil and we get our HEA. It also has a baby-free epilogue, which is rare.

This was the first in the series for me, but super easy to get all caught up on everything. This was such a good read and such a great use of the enemies to lovers trope! Our hero and heroine had just the right amount of sass and it was super to see them recognise pretty immediately that there was more than dislike there. And I super loved that neither wanted to change the other in any way!

I‘m a fairly recent Bateman fan, and this is the 2nd in her Ruthless Rivals series centered around two long-feuding families, the Davies and Montgomerys. Carys is the only female in the Davies family and thus is adventurous and free spirited. She made a mistake and is now being blackmailed for her naïveté. She turns to Tristan Montgomery, her frenemy, for instruction. And though neither is aware, they‘ve secretly always been drawn to the other. ?

robinb High jinks and sweet moments ensue. I enjoyed this one, especially for the well-drawn, lovable main characters. It‘s a sweet love story while also being 🔥🔥🔥. 4.5/5⭐️ 2y
Dragon My favourite hot 🔥 and sweet! Stacked 💚🐉 2y
robinb @Dragon Mine too! 😂 Would love to hear what you think. Have you read her before? 2y
Dragon No she‘s a new author for me. I‘m always on the lookout for new historical romance series- there‘s a big booksale coming up mid May so I will definitely be looking for her books. Thanks 🙏 2y
robinb @Dragon Oh good! I‘m bad about sticking with my tried-and-true favorites but am so glad I‘ve been venturing out lately to see what I might be missing. 😉 2y
