This is fascinating to me. I had no idea that this kind of detail would be discoverable from a skeleton:

“The archaeologists who studied Richard‘s femur and ribs and discovered a marked alteration in Richard‘s diet around the time he became king – evidence of ‘consumption of high trophic level, terrestrial foods, such as freshwater fish and wildfowl . . .

Sophronisba [which] corresponds to an increase in these “luxury foods” in the last 2–5 years of his life‘ – may have uncovered material remains of a lifestyle change that began as a conscious effort to appear more regal.“ 2y

I wish that I'd made a list of all the criticisms historians make of Henry VI. John Julius Norwich describes his reign as “perhaps the saddest half-century in English history“; Bernard Wolffe causticly speculates that “Henry was quite content to be Edward's prisoner once more, perhaps looking forward to returning to his old quarters in the Tower“; now David Horspool calls him “pious, ineffectual, and periodically deranged.“

Sophronisba I'm tempted to write a revisionist sympathetic take on the poor man, except I don't really think there's the evidence to justify it. 2y
