Originally published in 1876, The Randolphs is a religious story following four adult siblings as the brother, Tom, starts a hotel that - gasp! - doesn't serve alcohol!! The story can be a little preachy from time to time, but overall I did enjoy this gentle story of a young man trying his best to put his faith into practice. His sister Maria is sturdily independent and disinterested in the "crutch" of religion, and the author does a lovely job ⬇️

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) softening her character towards Christianity without making her lose herself. This one probably won't appeal to those who don't believe in Christianity, but it's an interesting story from its time. Pansy, the pen name for Isabella Alden, was the aunt of Grace Livingston Hill. Alden was a prolific writer of religious stories. My copy was included in an anthology of Hill's stories, so instead of a picture of the book, I've posted a photo ⬇ 2y
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) of a beautiful UP forest service road. 😁 I was quite entertained while reading this when one character hailed from “Out West“... aka Michigan!

#JoysofJune started yesterday and I forgot to post my goals!! I'm aiming to hit 2000 pages this week. It's supposed to be incredibly hot (~100*) through the middle of the week, so I'm thinking that since working outside isn't going to be a thing, I may be able to make some extra time. On the other hand, we did just get Gran Turismo 7 so I'm kind of busy building my racing career/car collection. 😁

Thanks for hosting @Andrew65 !!

Andrew65 Great to have you with us, good luck. 😊 2y
