I‘m having a hard time summarizing this one. The story is set in 1927 as the Immorality Act is passed prohibiting extramarital relations between whites and blacks. The story focuses on an interracial married couple, their children, the impact of the new law, along with the struggles already within the marriage. Manenzhe weaves folklore into this beautiful, but also sad story about racism, love, mental health, ancestors and home. I loved it.

Bookzombie I forgot to say this was my choice for my first IRL book club. 🙂 6mo
Reggie This sounds wonderful. Hope you get some good discussion. 6mo
Bookzombie @Reggie We did have good discussions. I wasn‘t sure how this would go since we can all pick a different book but for the most part there were several people who had read the same book. I really enjoyed book club. Next month is Japan. 🙂 6mo
