Pina | Elif Yemenici
1 post | 1 read
This story of Pina's fear to venture out of his door into the wide world will resonate with timid, imaginative kids. Pina explores the haunted, dangerous, compelling country of the imagination where children struggle to place themselves in the big and unknown world. The video of how Yemenici created Pina's world is a fascinating introduction to this story: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mysWmO-3ovg Pina is the name of Elif's cat, named after German-born choreographer Pina Bausch.

Many of us spent so many months inside hidden away from others that reemerging is an anxiety inducing event. And that is exactly what it is for Pina. They have run out of cheese and the only way to get more is to walk down the road into town and to the cheese shop. The task is daunting but doable and with a little anxiety busting can be repeated. The story is a great one that is heavily needed in our current times.
