Waiting for Darkness | 
pickCruz is a surgeon in Texas living a good life with his wife Michelle. His life changes one night when he is transformed into a creature of the night, a Darkling. I loved that Cruz was given time to mourn everything he lost. It added to the emotional depth of the character. Vengeance and bloodlust drive him until another one like him enters his life. Told through an alternating timeline, Cruz finds more than the creature who created him.
