Welcome back to the streets of Sunder City, a darkly imagined world perfect for readers of Ben Aaronovitch and Jim Butcher. In a city that lost its magic, an angel falls in a downtown street. His wings are feathered, wholeundeniably magicalthe man clearly flew, because he left one hell of a mess when he plummeted into the sidewalk. But what sent him up? What brought him down? And will the answers help Fetch bring the magic back for good? Working alongside necromancers, genies, and shadowy secret societies, through the wildest forests and dingiest dive bars, this case will leave its mark on Fetch's body, his soul, and the fate of the world. Praise for the Fetch Phillips novels: "Superb... With a lead who would be at home in the pages of a Raymond Chandler or James Ellory novel and a nicely twisty plot, this installment makes a strong case for Arnold's series to enjoy a long run." ?Publishers Weekly "Arnold's universe has everything, including the angst of being human. The perfect story for adult fantasy fansa tough PI and a murder mystery wrapped around the mysticism of Hogwarts, sprinkled with faerie dust." ?Library Journal (starred review) Fetch Phillips Novels The Last Smile in Sunder City Dead Man in a Ditch One Foot in the Fade

When magic seems to be reappearing in Sunder City, but also killing the people who are restored, Fetch Phillips may be the only one who can find out what‘s going on.

I liked this much more than 1&2. I may have started out more frustrated w/ Fetch, but I ended in a much better place. I still am obsessed w/ this world of lost magic. The grimy city slips a little further away from magic, but ultimately a hopeful ending w/ change in sight. 🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑

This is the 3rd book in Arnold‘s urban fantasy series with Fetch Phillips. If you like Rivers of London & The Dresden Files, you‘ll like this. Fetch has been working to bring back magic to a world that‘s lost it, and in this book, he thinks he‘s figured out how. A quest, a genie, and a crown are involved. This is my favorite of the series; I loved the end. Luke Arnold is an actor (Black Sails), and he does an excellent job narrating. #audiowalk

🎧 Best of the three. I listened strait through.

A mystery, a quest, monsters, peril & character development in spades.

I laughed, I cried. I‘d read more!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Another great adventure for Fetch Phillips, Man for Hire. In a world where magic once ruled and was commonplace, a great catastrophe happened that caused magic to dry up and it just so happens Fetch was that great catastrophe. Now there may be a chance to get it back if only Fetch can come through. I love the Fantasy Noir feel to this series. Give it a try if you like magic and who dun its.
