This is a fictionalised account of the life of the poet/playwright William Congreve. It's a bit dry for my liking, perhaps not fictionalised enough - the device of the framing narrator is not enough to make it a less an account & more of a story. I would've binned it but the writing is very pleasantly soothing. It's obviously meticulously researched & does have a few interesting sections but on the whole it dragged more than a little.
