4â May Jemison was the first black female astronaut for the US. When she was younger, she was told her dreams were too hard to attain, so she decided to prove everyone wrong. She was a star student, medical doctor, and an astronaut. She continues to help others achieve their dreams now that she saw some of hers. I love that this book shows how important education is, and that you can do and be anything no matter who you start out as in life.

This is the life of Mae Jemison, the first African American woman in space! While I was aware of Jemison‘s remarkable achievements with NASA, I was delighted to learn of her path to becoming an astronaut.

She went to college at 16 & was in medical school by 20! She also worked as a doctor for the Peace Corps.

I loved the gorgeous colors of the illustrations. Jemison‘s story of persistence & dedication will be inspiring to anyone! 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗
